Talk to the Dead.

03 April 2014 - 08:10 PM

Not much love lately for science here, so thought I could start a discussion.

A group at MIT has developed a video chat service with the dead. This website helps you build a digital personality after your death. This in turn means you can speak to a loved one online after death. I guess the website gathers and processes information you've done during your lifetime with complex algorithms. Including information  from your chat logs, social network information, photos, and emails to generate a virtual profile with memories and personality.

Personally, I think it's an interesting and innovative idea, but the practical uses for this are slim. Who would really, honestly use this website to hold onto a bond with a loved one? Maybe I'm being too harsh. What do you guys think about this?

Any Love For Farscape?

30 March 2014 - 06:26 AM

Oh, you can feel the nostalgia already.

Farscape is an innovative show, sci-fi or not. It's impressive all around. It is strange and beautiful, and takes us places few other series have even thought of. Carried by a strong, talented, diverse cast, who you can tell share real chemistry. It is somewhat cheesy, but isn't that a part of the charm?

Minus The Zombies (My Graphic Novel)

29 March 2014 - 09:43 PM

This is just the introduction. Have about a chapter done. Just interested in any feedback. Nothing too interesting.

Minus The Zombies

I have finally come to the realization that the factions roaming the Earths crust are doing so in strife, because now they rule the lands. These factions formed as organically as anything I have ever seen. Be it the blood lust of many heavy-hearted individuals, or be it the able bodied father of a family with no other way to obtain food, water, and just a place to stay. Most of those families are dead now, though. They fell victim to the pure evil they had surrounded themselves with. But regardless of who is still an inhabitant to these micro societies, they can not continue to pose any threat to how history will be written.

"And I pray to God that one day, He will grant me the power to reach out and hold my hand over your head and give you instant belief, 'cause you don't have instant belief. You've been hooked, you've been crooked, you've been lied to so many times, that you're suspicious-minded. And when the right thing comes along, you don't believe in it. When I'm coming in knocking on the front door, you're out the back door looking for four leaf clovers. And when you find it, you think somebody planted it there to fool you. 'Whats the angle?' You look for an excuse. In this modern day and age we have instant coffee and instant tea--instant disbelief. That's the reason we will never become anything--it is because we will never believe in ourselves. We will always listen to the mass majority. If everybody’s making fun of you and criticizing you, then you know you're on the right track. Cause most people ain't got it."

And as that quote embedded itself inside of my mind, we felt the land shake as I looked to my friend and his dwindling hope. It's been happening for years now, and we know that someone is going to pull that trigger. The fear I feel is slowly passing as I come to terms in what I believe to be my true standing in the whole of this civilization. I am the justification for the human race.

Some concept art (dialogue is not accurate, just filler):

Does Anyone Play Titan Quest?

28 March 2014 - 06:37 PM

A solid approach to the Diablo formula. The game gives you a lot of flexibility with regards to your character, can play your singleplayer character online, and you can create your own maps and quests. Add to this a stellar presentation and it’s hard to fault the game. I guess the next sentance will sell you or not: You can take five characters to level 65 in the same time it takes to get a toon to level 75. Seldom few have gotten to 75 without cheating.
Does anyone happen to be currently playing this? There are rarely more than a few people on servers. It's been a favorite of mine as of late so just looking for people to play with.  You can get it on Steam for $19.99 (with the expansion pack.) Though when it goes on sale, it goes down to $4.99.

Add me on Steam if you want regardless: Caelwyn

What are some games you guys can recommend me?
