For those that don't know, I used to mine bitcoin back when it was literally worthless, and then swapped to Folding@Home because it got my name on a leaderboard and fuck money. Bonus, you can see the exact date I decided to quit my last job. http://folding.stanf...ats/team/216624
Now bitcoin is worth some astronomical amount, there are other currencies that are worth mining (sort of) I have free electricity, lots of old hardware, and I think it's a fun hobby.
I'll make another thread soon about what I'm running, profit tracking, installing miners, that sort of thing. This thread is mostly just for the discussion of crypto in general.
Also, if I make a site, say spleenmining.com that uses a web browser miner, how many public computers do you guys think you could open it on for me?
Yeah, it's not going anywhere. The site costs me like $14 a month to run, it's on autopay from my bank account. Even if I die this place will be here for a long time. Yall will just have to deal with the Russian spammers.
I've tinkered with some cryptocurrency stuff at work lately, I'm hoping to do a little write up on that this week and maybe get some more good content on here.
So as some of you have probably noticed, I haven't been around much lately.
Mostly this has just been because of my schedule. I unfortunately don't have the time to run a website like I used to.
I want everyone to know though that the bill will always get paid, and if a post gets reported I get an email notification so I can take care of it right away. Nerd Forum isn't going anywhere, and I hope soon to have the time to dedicate back to it so that we can go back to having an awesome, active forum.
Side note, in the event of nuclear holocaust, there may be some down time. If that happens, please be patient. It's hard to run new cable while fighting off radioactive zombies.
