I never finished school and got my foot in the door at a corporation when i was 19.  October will be my 8th year and I have been getting steady raises every year.  Since I have learned just about every piece of software in the building since 2005, and written so many customer solutions,  I now get bonuses and stock options during my PRs.  I am now making more money than someone with a 4 year degree and 4 years experience.

However, there are some restrictions with certain labor category requirements on government contracts.  This is supposed to protect our government from paying an unqualified contractor too much money.  But often it ends up having the same useless people Have a look and see what rate you qualify for:

The positions are posted with hourly rates starting at page 25.

Job-hunting can suck my non-existent balls. The job center is bitching me out now, because I refused to take the Phoenix program--a 2-week 9-5 firefighting course designed to teach team-building skills and trust. The reason I refused is because it's being held in a place that would either cost me a ton of money in gas, or two different buses each way. I worked it out, and the bus is the cheaper option, it comes out at £84 for the two weeks. I get paid £106 per two weeks.

Cunts, all of 'em.

When it rains, it pours.

But when the sun finally comes out, that is a good day.

It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

Applying for jobs I can't even get to because inactivity leads to complacency.

Complacency.

Inactivity.

Being so fucking unfit.

Not to mention employers will see periods of inactivity as "Well if other people wouldn't hire him, why should we?"

Ah, the glorious double standards

Fear me and my eight months of unemployment, where the job centre now complains because I didn't apply to a job THREE HOURS AWAY.

Cunts

I know that feel, unemployment offices/job centers are the absolute worst. It's almost like they don't even look at the jobs they give you.

Last time I went to unemployment looking for a job, I had to sign up for this crazy program and get put in the system. I thought it was cool, I put in my credentials, and they would forward me jobs that I was supposed to have the needed background for.

After I applied, they sent me offer after offer for manufacturing and factory jobs, all of which wanted at least 2 years experience. I had factory experience... 2 days of factory experience... So I drove down there [the office happened to be a town over] and told them that I wasn't getting any job opportunities I could actually apply for.

I was told "sorry, I can't help you. The system controls what jobs get forwarded to you. If you want, though, you can manually browse through the jobs"

Lemme tell ya I only did that once before deeming it bullcrap.

At least they gave you jobs you had experience for. Here's a list of a few interesting ones they've given me.

-Nuclear Engineer for Valiant-class Military Submarines

-Locum GP

-Laboratory Assistant

-Royal Air Force Technical Engineer

-Head Zoologist at Paignton Zoo

And this week I'm going to a firefighter training induction day, and in July I start the training proper.

They also put me up for a job working in H&M Exeter, a clothing store 2 cities over. 6 hours p/w, spread across three days. Minimum wage £6.19 p/h, travel cost would be a MINIMUM of £7/day. I'd be coming home with about £15 a week. Bullshits.

Yeeeaaaaah... That's when you pack up your shit and go home

The problem is that if I don't dance their stupid dance, they don't pay me. And right now they're my only income. >_> So I have to deal with their shit.

I'd take the zoo job. >.>

I would have, except it required a bunch of licenses and experience I don't have.

I dislike idiots, famous idiots, celebrity douches, harry potter, shallow chicks, rude/disrespectful chicks, people who have an annoying tone of voice.

I also dislike people who make a lot of money making bad films, not being able to sleep, living in the burbs. (prefer the country, the beach, or the city.)

" unemployment offices/job centers are the absolute worst."

hate them too
