checkers is easy you just jump all their people if you touch their side of the board you get kinged you can only go foward unless your a kin then you can go backwards and you move diagonally untill theres only one side left(i think you can also play it if everyone on your side is a king). chess however is a very hard complicated game.

There's some odd spam going on here. o_O Checkers is pretty much the easiest tabletop strategy game there is.

I like Chinese Checkers! Regular checkers is boring to me...and it's only two-player.

Chess alright, but I always lose >.<

Rob! Teach me yo' skillz!

Pfffft, I lose more than I win too. <,< But something about it keeps luring me back. Feels like an actual medieval war. :D

This ain't a chess thread, so here's one tip: keep the four center squares protected as often as you can. I usually use my knights and two pawns to do that.

Might be something everyone's already heard of, I'unno, but, I find it quite useful. xP

I tend to be a beast at most games, but chess is even moreso.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak for me.

Chess isn't more difficult than checkers, it just has more rules for the pieces

The difficulty depends on who you are playing against, and their skill with the respected game

perfect example: Oriental board game "Go"

On your turn, you place a white/black rock [depending on your color] on a board of crossed lines

your opponent does the same

It's so simple, yet we can't even write AI to emulate the deep amount of strategy that can go into the game, but we programmed an unbeatable Chess machine

Go is probably my favourite board game to play. It sucks that there's nobody here to play it with though.

Same

although the friend who taught it to me had played in a couple tournaments, and gotten pretty high rank

he was a good teacher though, even though he would sometimes laugh, and give me a 10 stone handicap

and then, while giving me pointers, handed my ass to me

oh the good memories~

It's the most relaxed, complex board game you can imagine

with the simplest rules

and the most replayability

Good job, Asia

thing is, it's hard to get people to play

because unless someone gives up, the games can last a looooong time
