I know, being a nerd is usually connected to computers and popculture, but I think that food and cooking can be as much as a subject for nerds, because heh, everyone needs to eat sometimes and you can not always order Pizza.

So what stuff do you cook when you cook?

I once burned ramen noodles. >.>
Normally, I cook things that go in the microwave, easy and quick to fix. I make a lot of hamburgers too, for a while I was eating those every day for lunch and dinner.

Not exactly cooking, but I'm pretty good at making beef jerky(and chicken jerky) and a few candies like taffy and hard candies. The simpler stuff.

Right now I am having a noodle Gratin in the oven... wieners from a glass, sauce from a bag, cheese from a package. I cooked the noodles. Voila!

*has a fun time watching Paul Bocuse turning in his grave... I do not even know if that guy is dead already but he sure would get an heartattack if he reads this thread lol

Sounds pretty good. I just had some macaroni and cheese in a little microwavable cup.

When I cook I like to cook something interesting. I mean, if I want a steak or chicken breast I make a steak or chicken breast,

but if I'm really just cooking for the sake of making something, I like to go a little crazy and experiment, things like filet marinaded in Tonton vinaigrette and meatloaf with blueberry barbeque sauce. I make really good jams, my favorites are black raspberry, blueberry banana, and kiwi. I also like making various sauces and condiments, and any recipes that call for them. This morning I made some deviled eggs with a parmesean garlic sauce in the yolk mix instead of mayo, they were GREAT.

I'm gonna be starting a culinary course in the spring, I'm really looking forward to it.

I like to cook a lot.

I make pizza from scratch, chili, pot roast, lamb shank, beef ribs, brie stuffed porkchops, pasta.. etc

The last thing I made I enjoyed a lot was a mostaccioli pasta salad with olive oil, white wine vinegar, baby spinach, and feta cheese.

It was really good.

This morning I made some deviled eggs with a parmesean garlic sauce in the yolk mix instead of mayo, they were GREAT.

That's more baking than cooking, but I'm glad you liked them.

I never got the difference between baking and cooking to be honest... Yeah ofcourse, one is done ON the oven and one IN the oven, apart of that it seems pretty similar.

Yeah, it seems the same to me too. If there's a stove involved and food is the final product, it's cooking. >.>

I cook quite a few things in the oven.

I use baking as a term mostly when it is a pastry item of some sort although there are many discrepancies across the board for both, such as bread.

i do that occasionally. its fun to cook from time to time, but doing it daily is tiresome

Ahaha, I love to cook, I do some very good haggis dishes. Battered haggis with neeps and tatties. Beef dishes, pasta.

Last week I had shiitake mushrooms in a soy sauce marinade with moderate strength cheddar, garlic and olive oil/ butter. Nom, sorta, I don't like mushrooms all that much.

No one likes mushrooms here.
My sister and I were having a discussion yesterday about how we're the only people we know usually that likes the food we like so when we move away from one another and finally visit again, we're going to have all the yummy food we used to make together.

And she told me if I ever move down to the sticks she'll be sure to send me good cheese and olive oil from Italy when she goes.

I prefer to bake sweet deserts like cakes, muffins, cookies, brownies, etc. ^^
