I don't have a problem with Velma being a lesbian though because she never had a boyfriend, at least to my knowledge, but for some reason it seems like she briefly dated Shaggy, so wouldn't that make her bi? If they said someone like Spiderman was homosexual, then I could easily understand why there would be some type of frustration since he clearly has a girlfriend.
I'm not sure why anyone in a children's cartoon has to be attracted to anyone in general anyway though. That is, unless it's Disney, then it would be typical for a couple to fall in love within five seconds after meeting each other.

Because good fictional characters are fleshed-out, multidimensional people with wants, needs, hopes, and fears? Unless this is about it being "for kids" in which case, see my previous sentence.
