Are millennials the laziest generation? Randy gentlemen enter the pleasing. Why should you hate lazy people, if they didn't even do anything?

You are a bizarre bot, but benign, so your existence continues.

Hmm... actually, I think this bot might have a point. Millenials are pretty lazy and these days most people would rather watch porn than have literal sex, so maybe that's why "randy gentlemen enter the pleasing", as in pleasing themselves instead of other people? Idk. Just trying to make sense of it, I guess. I know quite a few people my age who quit their jobs often just because the schedule changes and they refuse to work weekends and/or overtime.

At least it's not raining, but there's another settlement that needs your help. I hope you can get to them quickly. Speaking of which, I'll mark it on your map. We need to show people that the Minutemen are back. Pretty soon, we'll have the entire commonwealth on our side, then I'll have something different for you.

eh.  I work with alot of them..  Im not sure you can call it lazy.  They are the first generation to have the internet from the time they were born.  I think it may be the constant need for communication with the world that is their biggest issue at the moment.  All the ones I work with seem to have their phone glued to the hand.

We're not lazy, we're efficient. If this report takes five hours because of some bullshit, I will find a way to make it take less than one. If I take less time doing a task, but it still gets done, is that laziness?

And yeah, my phone is glued to my hand; somebody started some shit on tumblr and I'm gonna finish it.

Also, who has time for dating? We're all working multiple jobs paying rent that's too expensive and student loans which were designed to cripple us economically, all for lower wages than previous generations because minimum wage and competitive pay are a complete joke.

It's like people who make fun of people for still living with their parents. I'd move in with my parents in their house if I could. I could pay them rent of something like $600, still buy my own food, and save over $200 a month that could go toward having an actual savings. Or, god forbid, actually paying off those loans. Which I will be done paying when I'm over 40.

Basically, anybody saying Millenials are lazy can come at me.

The reason there is so much student loan debt in America is because our government subsidizes college and student loans and because they pay a negotiated rate based on averages. The colleges either have to raise their prices all around or lose money. Since most of our colleges are for profit, they have an incentive to continually raise prices so that way the government will give them more free money and since the market forces can't compete with free money from the government where literally everyone qualifies almost everyone gets screwed over and has to pay a lot more money for college. Our country is ran by corporations and it has been a corporation since the 1800s. We’re not a nation for the people by the people we’re a country bought and paid for by the wealthy. As far as millenials go, I'm one of them and I'm pretty lazy. There are some that I know who are very active, but most of the ones around my age that I have seen are couch potatoes. Especially during the pandemic. They can't go anywhere anyway after losing their jobs.

That's not lazy; that's survival.

Also that part about tumblr is a true story. That was a shitty event involving some shitty people. Witchhunts are not fun.

I think my best parental move was the ability for my children to attend, achieve, and graduate "higher learning"  (college) with no debt.

That was a good goal that you were able to achieve, Grolli. I'm sure your kids will be a lot better off that way. Mister Sympa, I wasn't saying that I doubted your story. I was just saying that these are hard times right now and quarantine is turning people (not just millennials) into couch potatoes. I know it's for their own safety, but with all the technologywe have, someone really should have made a vaccine by now.

Do not think for a second that you will live as long as your grandparents. That is unless you move to the wonderful island country of Japan. They have a large history of art and architecture that will sweep you off your feet. While you be down on the ground they will force you to eat rice and that is what will make you live longer. Buy from Japan. Eat from Japan. Fly there or boat there. I do not want. Nobody is immune to love. A board minded person is full of it. ooee

Those are two wildly different statements. What do you really expect Milennials to be doing right now? Staying inside is our best chance for survival as a species.

Vaccines are slow to develop for reasons, one of the top reasons being safety. If labs just went with the first viable formula they developed, it could do untold damage to the population. There was a vaccine that cause narcolepsy in some people very recently. This is not something to be rushed, nor is the delay a result of laziness.

I know this sucks, but we need to just be patient.

You know what really made me not work so hard?

Not being paid appropriately for my time and abilities while my employers expected 1000% dedication to their regime.

My dad got a union factory job in 1980 and made enough money during his working like to sustain a family of five.

Both parents need to work full time now to afford maybe one kid if they live frugally.

We don't make nearly as much as our parents and everything costs significantly more (and more every year), you can only make people work for peanuts for so long before they start giving you monkey work. Broad sweeping generalisations have always bothered me, but not nearly as much as being called lazy because I'm forced into a corner where I have to decide between killing myself for the job that doesn't pay my bills or living with my mom forever.

I've got a lot of angry feelings toward this subject in general, but being considered lazy because I want to live a comfortable life with reasonable support is by far the most infuriating.

Oh, no. You've completely misinterpreted what I was saying. I was only referring to people I know and myself. Not every milennial. Btw, Russia just developed an early vaccine, so at least that's some good news. I just... like to party, and I can't do that anymore.

You entered into this conversation with

Does that just apply to you and people you know?

Also, jobs requiring overtime and having radically changing schedules are not acceptable for people who need predictable schedules due to personal reasons, outside commitments, or for people who just don't want to be taken advantage of by ludicrous scheduling.

These are not unreasonable demands.

My wife pointed out to me that the work force it much different then it is even for me.  Corporations no longer have loyalty to their workers, so workers no longer have loyalty to the company.  You cant blame that on any age range.

When companies put profits above all else, employees must be on guard to protect themselves and their livelihoods. I certainly don't plan on leaving my job, but my resume is always ready to go.

It's been a fucked up world to work in for most of my life.

Minimum wage where I live is $14/hour, before the government did that jump it was $12/hour.

When the increase took effect my last place of employment just reduced the starting wage of their supervisors/machine operators by at least $2 to offset the potential loss.

I was making $16/hour doing a job that started at $18.50 six years before I started, and I had to fight for three months to get bumped up to $18/hour when a new operator was hired at the same wage as me. I had 2 years experience, could run every machine line they have, was a trainer on four of those lines, wrote several of the Standard Operating Procedures for those lines including health and safety guidelines, was on the joint health and safety committee, and learned Spanish so that I could better work with my crews of mostly offshore workers. Raises were infrequently annual and never exceeded 2%, overtime was not a thing, yet my work days routinely reached 12-15 hours, they would post tomorrow's work schedule somewhere between 4pm-6pm today, sometime I'd work a month straight of shifts like that without a day off, then get one or two and be right back in for more. They took advantage of the offshore program every way they could because the government pays a portion of offshore worker's wages, benefits, etc, and continually try to get better deals because "Canadians don't want to do the work so we need more migrant workers to keep the business afloat". While they make upwards of a hundred million dollars annually. Then I get to go home read articles in my local newspaper/online about how my generation is lazy because we aren't willing to work blue collar jobs like our parents did and earn our way in the world, we just want everything handed to us for nothing. So many companies are going this route and bleeding people dry, and not just young people, yet everyone points their fingers at the victims of a disgusting system instead of looking a bit higher at why these people actually don't want to do the work. It's an amazingly frustrating place to be in when all I want to do is live a comfortable life, be able to afford having children and a home at the same time, and maybe not work myself to death to break even. It's just, defeating.

A 2% raise is actually admissible in court as a middle finger.
