Getting back into Star Trek. Watched most of TOS as a teen, but not much since then. I haven't seen most of Next Gen apart from the movies, so I started watching the show. So far I'm on the one where the Ferengi try to frame Picard. Gonna finish the episode after work.

TNG is among my favourites.

I feel like Kirk was slightly better than Picard, but TNG was a very good series with plenty of minor characters that were very well thought out. If they would have had Spock and Kirk along with the cast from TNG, then I think the series would have been perfect.

My favorite would probably be TOS, but it's been awhile since I've seen it. For fans of the original, voice actor Vic Mignogna did a very good fan show Star Trek Continues, to finish out the original 5 year mission.

I grew up with TNG. I have a deep emotional attachment to it.

The original series is better by far. If you're watching TNG, it's pretty much the same as watching Stargate. The characters are interesting, but the story is kind of meh.

The characters are literally why I love TNG; couldn't tell you a thing about the plot, so you're not wrong.

Stargate has far from a lackluster plot if you ask me.

Battle of the Gods but all the Gods are aliens and humans are a seeded slave species fighting for freedom from parasitic spine worm overlords?

Excellent.

I haven't seen Stargate: Atlantis or Stargate: Universe. I have only seen SG1, so maybe it was an unfair comparison. Stargate Origins was a pretty fun little web series though.

I watched Atlantis a loooong time ago. I thought it was solid; I was invested in the characters enough.

Atlantis was good, I also never watched Universe. I just never got around to it, though I did hear okay things.

And my little plot synopsis is entirely SG-1, though I can understand how some wouldn't bite into it like I did.

I'd watch marathons on cable in the late nineties/early two thousands when I stayed home from school.

So fucking good.

I liked where they went for the most part with the overarching plot, but much like SG-1 it was the characters that made me give a shit.

They definitely knew how to write some goddamn science fiction.

Also shoutout to DS9. I've seen like six episodes and I dig the vibe.

I really never got into the Trek. I did enjoy the Chris Pine films, and I barely remember Captain Charles Xavier as a kid......

..... But I rewatched the 1994 Stargate film recently. Still holds up after all this time.

I think I'll watch the recent Planet of Apes film tonight.
