We've all got those people in our workplace.
Mine is a maintenance guy, total garbage person.
It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

heh.. Boomers...
hey.. wait.. I only missed it by a few years

Like, I have all ages in my office as coworkers, and the three other boomers I can think of are like 1000x smarter than the box of rocks I got stuck with. Like, it's AMAZING how little brainpower the human body can run on.

I got promoted to manager last week.
I no longer desire this. People are garbage. This job is garbage. Why did I want this.
“Shimatta! Bare… nan no koto kashira?”

Ok.. i work with mostly the younger generation. I am swiftly loosing faith in the human race. If these jerk offs are the future.. we are screwed. Out of 15, there are 3 I can work with.

I don't really get along with Boomers...... or people my age for that matter. lol
THE HELL YOU READING FOOL???

Perhaps I have a mistrust for humans in general. If a random pretty girl starts talking to me I'm very defensive. Probably hard to get to know me properly.
Seriously! I am all like.. ok... hi.. whats your ulterior motive?

I'm not judging, but y'all got trust issues.

Getting hurt and/or screwed over by letting people in can make it hard to keep doing so, but in the long run the ones who stick around and don't wipe their shitty shoes on your hearts carpet make it worth the risk. Plus you stop caring about what the hurtful people say or do because you know they're just garbage people and you're better off knowing for sure who and what they are.

Yes I do, and I can accept that.
Too many tours in the sand did it for me.

I guess I overanalyse the situation far too often. I think generally people are trying to be nice and getting to know me. I need to work on my insecurities. I'm not that awkward nerdy dude anymore.... or maybe I still am?

I dont think I over think it... I have just been burned too often.
I do have trust issues.
I have a general dislike for fake/stupid people. I am too old to spend time cultivating a new relationship, only to have it go down in flames.
That being said.. if you are in my inner circle, I am your friend for life.

I hear ya, but like, the only way you know if someone is gonna be a good friend is to let them in, at least a little.
If it doesn't work, you can part ways; if they betray you, you can part ways faster.
But if not, maybe there's a good person in there that would make a great friend.
Also, I've always heard that "The best way to make a friend is to be a friend," but that phrase has been mostly useless to me. Maybe someone else can find some purpose in it.

I cannot fault your logic...

I also deal with people who are in the position to make decisions that impact the quality of work we produce and the life the engineers have regarding work tools/software. It is sad to see people making choices about technology in a company when they dont even use it.
I think that was the most convoluted way of basically saying that my corporate shared services are terrible/non-existent.
