Is there any way to get my hands on a switch that is not 200 dollars of more?

I kind of hate Nintendo right now for being trendy. There systems are going to be centurys own

and still horribly pricey. I can buy a PS2 for 60 bucks! Why the hell is the Switch still so expensive?

Man, I don't know who you are, but your timing is impeccable. The Switch is more expensive because it was released after the PS4. I've got something a little different for you... another settlement needs your help.

Speaking of which, I'll mark it on your map.

I guess that's one way to get rid of the spambots. Just make them talk to Preston Garvey. "Another settlement needs your... Hey! Where are you going?"

The PS2 released in 2000.

The Switch released in 2017.

Gee, I wonder why the Switch costs more than a PS2.

Yeah, that's an odd comparison.  A proper comparison would be the Switch to the PS4, or the PS2 to the GameCube.

Just go get a GameCube; it has a shitton of good games that you could afford with the system for the price of a Switch.

my piont is that PS systems and games go down in price after a couple of months to a year. Switch by that estimate has been out two years and has not gone down at all. Most likely do to being trendy. This rule applys to every sort of system that isn't owned by nitendo.

There's a pretty self-evident reason for why Nintendo technology and software rarely takes price cuts. They can't afford to. While Sony, Microsoft etc. all work using existing computing technology, Nintendo goes all-in on the gimmick functions that require a very different level of hardware. Due to this it's more expensive to produce when compared to the Big Two, because they're basically just sticking PCs into a new case.

Wow, I just figured it was because it was Nintendo and they can do that because it's fucking Nintendo. That makes so much sense; I feel dumb for never putting that together.

It's most evident in the games themselves, honestly. You'll typically pay an extra ten bucks for a game on the Switch compared to one on the PS4 or Xbox One, and part of that is because Nintendo uses proprietary cartridge technology that increases the cost to manufacture by a fairly large amount. If I recall correctly the cost to produce an 8GB game cartridge for the Switch is the same as a single-disk game for the PS4. The cost increases when you go up to 16GB or 32GB carts. This means developers take a bigger hit if they put more resource-intensive games out because they lose money on shipping.

But then there's also the issue of Nintendo (and developers working with them) being outright greedy. Selling games that weigh in at sub-500MB at triple-A prices is disgusting.

That explains why the Wii/Wii-U were dumping grounds for shovelware. Cheap, low-rent software tossed onto Nintendo hardware is a big margin for Nintendo.

I recently got me an OG Switch.

I traded and sold most of the cheap $1-$5 games I had collected over the past couple of years.

I used to go to pawn shops, buy a game then trade it to EB Games and get like $10-$20 extra for it.

tl;dr

trade all your games.

You still got EB Games?

Indeed. Gamestop seems to be a US thing. NZ and Australia rep the EB.
