One week until I mail out the hopefully there by Christmas packages.

So far I have two people, but there's still time.

And if any of you infrequent old timers pop on sometime in December and see this delightful offer I will be happy to send out late ones.

Welp, expect massive delays on the arrival of any patches I send out.

They're coming, but Canada Post is dealing with some immersive strike/slow down issues right now and has been for a bit so they're backlogged for months.

Which means that something that I mail out today might not get to its destination until somewhere in March, especially if it's moving internationally.

Sadly I can't do anything about it, but hey, Christmas in March sounds alright to me.

Oh, dear. Is it for a political reason or something?

As far as I know the drivers went on strike because they want more money and better benefits because the job has become significantly more parcel centric since paper mail has taken a back seat to electronic bills and whatnot. So they're saying that the increased physicality of the work requires more appropriate compensation/medical benefits. Our government has even stepped in and put some legislature in place that forces them back to work because the postal service being down for this long has fucked up a great many things economically.

Oh well. I guess it will be more of a surprise when they finally arrive after temporarily forgetting about them.

I still have the patch you made for me. 6th PSC Horn of Africa with the Lion on it. It is spectacular.

I still have that design, it was one of my favourites to digitise.

Do you mind if I post a picture of it for these guys to see?

And now that I've gone back and seen/remembered my older patch pictures I'm going to post some of the cooler ones so you folk who haven't ever seen my work can get a better idea of what I do.

This is a huge custom Mandalorian Insignia patch that I did a few years ago, I think it was for a cosplayer. I normally don't go this large with a patch but the design was simple enough that it didn't turn out shitty.

Spoiler

Another very large patch that was only doable because of its relative simplicity. This one was for the back of a biker jacket i believe.

Spoiler

This is possibly my favourite digitising job I've done to date. This guy came in to my shop to get some hats and stuff done for his own business and when he saw my patch board (cork board covered in my patches) he asked if I could make a patch of his neck tattoo. I said I'd try and took bunch of pictures from various angles. I'd digitised from various digitial files, car magnets, pencil sketches/drawn images and pictures before, but never from something as uneven as a human neck. So here's the guy's tattoo and a screenshot of the design. I never got a picture of the actual sewout, but this still gets the point across.

Spoiler

So far I've only bought 4 presents.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate for my nieces.

Dragon Quest 11, Octopath Traveller and Red Dead Redemption 2 for...... myself...... yep.

I plan to get my brother a fan and Wham!'s greatest hits. My mother a Mariah Carey perfume and my sister inlaw a 2 hour coupon of my babysitting services.

Oh yeah, and my grandmother a block of giant chocolate.

I'm actually pretty shit at picking presents.

I know not what my loved ones desire.

No rush, but did you already send them out on the 3rd or were you waiting until the strike is over?

I delayed a bit after the 3rd, but they are on their way to those who gave me their info.

Hopefully they get to everyone somewhat quickly but the fallout from the postal strike has created a pretty substantial backlog as far as I understand.

From what I last heard the backlog should be caught up with by the end of January. But knowing the Canadian government, I wouldn't bet money on it. That being said a lot of people and companies just switched to courriers like fedex/dhl/UPS so the backlog might not actually be that bad. I know where I work switched over to courriers for all their mail for a few months.
