I'm really excited to see Aladdin. It was one of my favorites as a kid, along with Jungle Book and the remake of that was fantastic. I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about having anyone else as Genie, but I like Will Smith and I hope he can pull it off.

I had completely forgotten about the Godzilla movie too. The trailers for it look epic, so I'll be watching it.

Oh shit that's right, Godzilla's next year! Totally forgot about that one, really hyped for it though!

Kinda nervous about Aladdin, I REALLY hope it doesn't suck.

Eh... It's hard to tell . The trailer mostly shows off the CGI instead of showing us the characters.

D'you think we'll reach a saturation point of CGI and get a movement of practical effects back?

I miss practical effects.

I just hope that most of the movie isn't CGI. Then, it would just be the exact same movie with slightly better graphics and different actors. Fortunately, I don't think Disney will be taking that route.

Well, with the precedents of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast, I think that ain't gonna be the case...

(I haven't seen Jungle Book yet)

I don't know how I forgot about Wreck-It-Ralph 2.

I definitely want to see that too... eventually.

I'm so torn over Mulan. On one hand, it looks like it's going to kick ass. On the other hand, fuck Disney and anyone not pro-Hong Kong.

If Mulan is anything like Aladin, ill pass.

I will be seeing the new Top Gun...  Black Widow, Birds of Prey, and probably Minions 2

Why wasn't a new thread started for this? Anyway, the only one that I've seen so far was Underwater. It was better than the critics said it was, but I feel like the writers should have developed the characters a little bit better. As far as other 2020 movies I want to see, I would say Bad Boys: For Life, Bill and Ted Face the Music, Birds of Prey, Fast and Furious 9, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Godzilla VS Kong, The King's Man, and The Turning.

Because fuck it.

I am trepidatious of both Bill and Ted and the new Ghostbusters, but I am open to the possibility that they will fucking rock.

There's a new Top Gun too? What fucking year is it??

Of course Minions 2 is happening. Goddammit, Illumination.

Sorry for being a salty old bitch, but I'm perpetually perturbed by the re-packaging and re-selling of my childhood back to me.

The majority of media these days seems to just be all the stuff that sold in the 80's and 90's aimed at all of us that were around for it and have our own money now.

Any time I hear about some remake or sequel I instinctively side step it and wait for some good original stuff to come around.

I know it makes me sound like a crusty old man, but once that door of observation is open it's impossible to close.

It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

I agree Affray.  It would be nice if they didnt re-boot.  We are the target demographic though, for exactly the reasons you listed.

The 2019 Lion King opened with $191 million in tickets.

Like.

If people could stop using their money to tell corporations this garbage was okay, that's be greeeeat.

Edit: But okay, upon further reflection, I am also a complete whore for Nintendo, so... I am a little part of the problem.

I think it's because of a build-up of movie sequels that have been in development hell for a long time. The result of multiple long awaited sequels being released around the same time inspired other movie makers to do the same.

The new Ghostbusters looks really good. It has to be better than the disaster that happened in 2016. There's no way it could be that bad.
