[Cotton Candy Hot Tub]

Have you ever traveled outside of your home country? I haven't, but there are many places I would like to go.


Australia, Canada, Colombia, Egypt, Finland, France, India, Jamaica, Malaysia, Mongolia, Peru, Philippines, and Russia are all the countries that I would be interested in traveling to. Maybe I should also start my own country in the process.

Spent 7 years in Germany.  Got to go to England, Italy, and Sicily.  Military sent me many other places too.

There are some stupidly beautiful places here in Canada. I've only been out of my own country twice and one of those trips was to Michigan, so it wasn't exactly a thrill ride. I went to Jamaica and hung out at Bob Marley's house on 4/20, which was something of an adventure. I need to explore my own homeland first I think, there's just so much goddamn space up here full of kick ass nature stuff that I probably couldn't ever see it all. Plus I'm poor as a mofo so I'm fairly limited in where I can trek to.

German is apparently fairly easy to learn for native English speakers as it's similar in a lot of ways.

If you're serious about it you should get Duolingo on your phone and start learning now.

I've been learning Spanish for a few weeks now and it's a surprisingly effective tool for getting the basics hammered into your brain, and as far as I can tell it goes fairly in depth in the later lessons.

I'm super not serious about learning German. Maybe Russian, tho.

 

Is Duolingo the one where you "plant and water" your lessons?

It's got Russian, and I haven't seen anything about weird agricultural rituals so far.

It's just language lessons that incrementally get more complex as you learn more words and phrases.

There doesn't appear to be any gimmicks to it other than they try to make it a bit of a game to keep people interested.

So you earn experience for each lesson and/or challenge you complete and you also get "lingots" as you go along which can be used to purchase in game stuff like extra lessons based around flirting with people in your chosen language or putting a halt on your day to day lesson streak expiring if you miss a day.

All that's just gamey stuff to keep users round and learning though, fundamentally it's a pretty decent way to learn at least some of a language.

It also has Klingon and High Valyrian, which is nerdy as hell and pretty neat.

I think they are always aiming to expand their language base.
