I found it surprising since the Big Bang Theory is a show that focus around nerd culture that there wasn't a Big Bang Theory thread, so I've decided to start one.

What do you guys think about the Big Bang Theory? Do you love or hate it & why?

It's funny, but I'm not a huge fan. That Sheldon guy annoys me.

I love it.

My mother kept telling me about it but she has a sweet taste for sour shit and I never gave it a go.

Then my son was diagnosed with Asperger's in January and it was recommended to me as a kind of viewpoint as to how he may grow up and be.

After the first few episodes, I was hooked.

Caught up on all 5 within a month or two, tho I have missed the last 6 or so I plan on watching them as well.

Sheldon is probably my favorite.
The laugh he does cracks me up.

I love that Raj can't talk to women unless he's drinking.

And a lot of the female characters are pretty fun.

Howard and his mom are hysterical.

Sorry to here about your son Tes. How old is he? At least Asperger's isn't usually that bad & often gets better as they get older. People with Asperger's can do quite well for themselves in life & I'm sure it won't hold him back any.

He's 9.

Yeah, no..
From everything I'd heard he is a pretty mild case, so that'll help him out when he gets older.

He's great at reading and was terrible at math, until we all talked to him about it.
In about 5 months he went from having a disability in it to excelling, it was fantastic. :)

He's just lazy sometimes like every 9 year old. :P

But yeah, if he grows up to be like Sheldon.. I only hope it's with that laugh. >.>
(right now he'll occasionally laugh like a drunken french-man tho, it's hilarious.)

And Soft Kitty is super cute. XD

Sheldon: "Hungry? Tired?"

"What... NO!?"

Sheldon: "I really am no good at this game"

Hey, there wouldn't be anything wrong with him turning out like Sheldon. If you're really lucky he might even be a genius like Sheldon. I'm a lot like Sheldon but I don't have asperger's, I just have OCD & don't deal well with people.

No, I know.

I don't think any way he turns out will be bad at all.

I just want him to be happy and not miss out on anything in life.

I'm sorrie you feel that way.
At least you're awesome tho, aye?

And people do really suck.
A person can be amazing tho. :)

No. No offence taken. I was just checking I didn't say something wrong. That's part of what I meant by I don't deal well with people, I seem to offend people quite often & I can never work out why.
I suppose I should have clarified what I meant by I don't deal well with people. There is a bit of a communication barrier with me & most people as I (like sheldon) can't really understand the whole emotional thing & don't really understand how to to deal with it. So I suppose to some people they can perceive my reactions as cold or insensitive. But I really don't mean to be I just don't react to things emotionally, if I have a problem in my own life I look at it analytically. So often my idea of helping, which is pretty much a list of facts & different possible outcomes of there problem doesn't seem to be the right way to go. But to me I'm trying to help in the only way I understand...

Oh, ok.
I was worried I had offended. >.>

No, I think I can understand.
My so is exactly the same way.
Whenever there's a problem he either tries to accommodate by just saying "I'm sorry" or giving off a list of different things to do.

I wish I could say it was something that doesn't bother me, but as someone who is overly emotional it's hard to deal with sometimes.
I am however trying.
I am also hoping it will help with Xavier when he gets older.

Practice and all that. XD

The one thing about my so is that he has a huge heart and is always trying to help people in any way he can.
And from what I've seen interacting with you, you seem quite a bit like that as well. :)

Plus you have an awesome husband right? :D

I think you guys are great as is. ^_^

You're son sounds a bit like me. It's not that we don't care, it's just because we react differently to our own problems to most people. So when people get upset we only understand what it is we would do in that situation, we don't understand what other people want from us when they feel upset.

Mhmm.
Seems like it to me too.
May I ask, do you have heightened intellect in certain areas as well?
Or is it collectively above average?

Oh, & yes I do indeed have an awesome husband. But he knows not to get upset by my approach to helping. He knows that I care, I just express it differently to how other people would.

That's good.
It's really important to have someone understand and appreciate the things that make you, you.

I'm happy for you that you have that.

You may, but may I ask you a question in turn? Just out of curiousity on my part, what made you think that I have an above average intellect? Be in certain areas or high in general. Just find it an odd question as you don't know me personally, for all you know I could be stupid.

Well, from everything I've read and have been told my psychiatrists and psychologists and specialists and all the other ists in between that the social aspect goes hand in hand with the intellect aspect.

Even people I know, like my so (significant other was what I was meaning) who has not been diagnosed are highly intelligent.

For the most part online, you can separate the intelligent and the unintelligent.
Usually easily enough since the latter UsUlly typ35 leik dis. >.>
And you carry yourself well in a conversation with proper grammar and punctuation.

I just kind of put two and two together, especially since you remind me of my so.
