I don't know what the big thing about Reddit is, hell, I don't even know what it does.

It's just like a giant forum with a karma system.

I don't know that I would classify it as a forum.

Just because they way you interact, isn't like most forums/messenger board I have been at.

It's more of a place to peruse different objects of interest and leave your input and read others as well.

Maybe the forums I've gone to just take more of an interest in the people posting, rather than the topics at hand.

It's the basic premise of a forum, just like you said, most of the ones you've been on focus on the replies more than the topics.

I think of it as a social news site than anything else, even though many reddits have personalities of their own.

I think /r/atheism has the worst...and this is coming from an irreligious guy.
