I don't think I could ever rob myself of the superior format of a story just so I could enjoy the show.

I read a good comic/book and it lives on forever in my head, tapped at any time.

I watch a decent show and it sits for a bit, then is replaced by whatever the new thing is.

Well, I started watching the show only knowing faintly it was based on a graphic novel series.  Reading it now might be cool, but that's a lot of books to get.

I read the first Harry Potter and then stopped reading because the movies started coming out and I lost interest.

Loved the original The Hobbit, but by the time I finished reading it, the LOTR movies were coming out about a month later (I was in sixth grade when the first one came out.)  So, I saw little point in reading those books.

And I see very little point in reading the Game of Thrones books as I really don't want the plot of the show spoiled in any way.

But that's just how I do things.

You can read The Walking Dead online for free in a few places.

The way you go about things is a reader's bane.

Saying you don't feel the need to read the books because you have seen the show/movie is like saying you don't feel the need to see the show/movie because you read the synopsis on imdb.
