I am new and I would love to make new nerd friends. I am not a gamer but think I am missing out. I would totally need a mentor to help get me started in an RPG. Currently, I love adventure or card games and trivia. I love studying for fun, which definitely makes me a nerd and I love finding people like me, a certain shade of wacky, but no perverts, please! So glad to be here!!

Thanks buddy! I am looking for like minded friends and especially unlike minded friends that can teach me a thing or tow about awesome nerdom!(sp?) I am a theatre nerd. I would like to call myself a movie nerd, but there is so much I need to see. I love cooking, traveling, dreaming, studying on Khan.com and taking free online courses, creating, discovering, and helping people. I love sarcasm and banter.

Studying for fun should work to your favor!
After having actually studied for different scenarios I'd say that I'm NOT a fan of studying. But I do like learning! I love knowing things and finding out new information, especially anything related to my interests.
Welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy your time here! And there are plenty of nerds about these parts to get to know =)
Good luck, bro.

Welcome welcome.
If you like movies and such then you are definitely missing out on some quality story action in the video game realm.
Good games these days understand that a great plot with interesting characters is just as important as how a game looks and handles.
It is tough to recommend a game without knowing your preferred genre, but Mass Effect is pretty great as far as story goes and making you genuinely care what happens to your team members throughout the journey.
It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

Hello and welcome!
What card games do you enjoy?
Most RPGs are pretty straight-forward the only ones you might need real help with are the MMO's (massively multiplayer online). Just like what Affray said without knowing your preference (horror, violent, questing, puzzle etc. etc.) I don't know what kind of help we can provide.
Do test us though, we got a lot of avid gamers on here!

I am interested in the horror genre and fantasy or adventure. Just not one where I have to learn what a whole lot of equipment and tools are and how to use them to quickly!

Try out Dead Space.
Scary as balls and intuitive enough that you won't have trouble learning the tools of the trade.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a good fantasy RPG for any level of gamer.
Simple enough to play, lots and lots of plot to plough through, and even more monsters to smash to bits.
It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

Welcome to the forum! As a fellow nerd, not being sure of what games you have played, I would try out Doom 3.
Pretty scary for a while, and a good place to start learning some mechanics placed in other games.
