weekly or monthly; someone is elected to write up their own review of anything that is nerd related.
it would probably be a game or film of some sort.
they write the pros and cons and then a summary and then a nerd rating 1-10.
obviously being a forum, people can post their own views on it and get a really good debate/discussion on the topic.

Sounds like a pretty good idea. I've got a collection of stuff already, and buy nerdy things quite often so it shouldn't be a problem.

its also a good way of getting others involved. getting others to write articles and give a nerd-worthy rating

I think reviews could be great, just need a bit of a jump start or a 'submit your review' process - so they can be evaluated by a selected 'panel of judges' so we don't post a poorly written, lacking details, or a review that's not even accurate.

Right, the reviews would have to be approved if I was to do a whole section dedicated to them.

You could look into doing an affiliate programme for your reviews, I wonder if there's one set up for nerdy stuff though.
