Hello,

Recently, I have come up with an idea for an e-mail service that is web based and would like to start creating it. However, I do not know how to go about creating it. So, therefore, I would highly appreciate some information and tips on what to do.

What language do I write it in? How do I go about getting my own server? What are the averages of cost? Is it wise to do this on my own?

I've searched relentlessly on the internet for information but, the only information I can only find seems to involve creating a sub-service piggybacking off another service and this project will be created exactly from scratch and will stand on its own platform.

I'm calculating that this project will take at least a year, at the minimum, to complete. So, if need to be, feed me slowly.

That's a lot of questions. I don't have any experience myself, but I believe it could be done through PHP.

You can rent hosting space on a server for about $5-7 a month for shared ones, but you might need a dedicated server for something like this, even to start. Those are a good but more.

I'd suggest using XAMPP on your computer for starters to try and tinker.

Would you happen to have a link for the XAMPP?

I searched for it however, the only links I received were pages talking about it but, no pages offering download.

I couldn't even find a website for it.

I suppose I'm looking for a e-mail service blueprint to dissect and learn from. Can't seem to find one for creating an e-mail service like you can for creating a web page.

You'll need to put in a lot of work if you want to pull this off. A lot. You'll need extensive understanding of of coding, I don't even know which language, you'll want to put a team together, hell, probably a company, you'll need to get funding and finance, and maybe work experience at an existing email company?
