Spurred by the oncoming movie, and an interview on Tested, I started reading The Martian yesterday. I'm now 65% done.
The basic premise is that after a manned mission to Mars, an astronaut is stranded. The book is mostly written by the point of view of his logs in his struggle to survive and get help. It's an amazing book, the first one I've been enthralled about in 10 years or better. Even the math in the book is interesting, and mostly correct. Everyone needs to read it.
