So, in a move that's gotten me firmly on Nintendo's side, they've decided to listen to the fans and opened a poll that basically says "Tell us what video game character you want as DLC, and we'll take it into consideration."
Best part? Third party characters are optional!
Here's the poll:
TBH, there's sooooo many characters I want, but it's limited to one per person.

Pretty fantastic idea.
Directly involving the gamers in the game that they will be playing is a brilliant way to keep the ball rolling.
It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

Tell us what you will pay for, so that you can pay us for it! Why would we ask this before release to include them, instead of cloning characters?
They should have reworked every clone in the game to include a unique moveset.

Well, he was free for people who own both the 3ds and Wii U copies of the game, don't know if that still applies.

I only have the 3DS version.
The machine is trying to milk as much moolah out of us as possible

That would be pretty nice XD
But I don't really see it as necessarily bad that he and Lucas are paid DLC. It's not like when EA tried to take pools out of The Sims to make as DLC later.

I don't use Reddit, so...
And yes, I have played it. Graphically it's ok, maybe slightly better than the PS3/360. The problem it suffers from is that it's gotten very little support from third party developers. A lot of the bigger companies who worked with the original Wii haven't bothered joining the 'Wii U revolution' because it's just not worth it. The ones that did have mainly just ported old games onto it. Batman: Arkham City, Mass Effect 3, etc. And with the latter, it's just a butchered piece of shit even worse than Mass Effect 2 on PS3 was; because you lose so much by not being able to play the previous two titles, the in-game world just feels lacking.
As far as first party titles go, I guess they're ok? I don't like Mario, so about 85% of the first party library is gone for me already. There are two games I'd like to play on it. ZombiU (and I fucking despise the gamepad so that's out) and Shin Megami Tensei vs Fire Emblem, which will probaly not make it to Europe/USA. And due to Nintendo's present annoyance of region-locking everything (seriously, the 3DS is region-locked, and even some 3DS GAMES are coded with a secondary lock iirc) as well as the Wii U means you can't even import them. Meanwhile, the PS3, PS4, PSP, PSVita, 360, and XBOne are region-free.

So, yeah. It's a failure alright. You can cry about it all you like, but when the company who MADE it say it's a failure, you're not qualified to say otherwise.

When a company who has been known for inflating their purchase rates overestimates their sales, it is a failure? Sounds like they made plenty of sales to me, sonny, and the Wii U was always offered at a rather low price, so it is foolish for you to assume that they were dumping their entirety into it.
Nintendo is wiping these tears that you keep talking about with enormous wads of cash, and denying that is simply foolish.

...uh-huh. The Wii U has yet to break 10m units sold, despite releasing around a year before the XBOne/PS4. Meanwhile the One broke 10m in June 2014, and at last count the PS4 was above 20m. Games-wise, the Wii U's top-selling game to date is Mario Kart 8 at 4.38 million units sold. This is compared to Call of Duty: AW at 6.44m, GTA5 at 6.42m, Fifa 15 at 5.82m, and Destiny at 4.87m, all on PS4*.
The reason the Wii U was offered at 'a low price' as you put it, is probably because Nintendo knew from the outset it wouldn't do as well. The Wii blew competition away by being gimmicky, but still providing solid games. The Wii U tried that and failed spectacularly. The Wii easily outsold its competitors, the PS3/360. The Wii U is flagging behind its competitors. Hell, the Wii U has sold fewer units than the PS Vita.
Whether they embellished their sales projections or not isn't what matters, kid. The cold, hard numbers are telling a story contrary to your baseless whinging.
