So, there's an anime convention thing coming up, and I discussed an advertising idea with out local koala today. One of us will wear a hat with a ! over it, and another with a ?.

The idea is to have a quest that someone picks up from me, and turns into him or vice versa and done in a way that it advertises the forum.

Suggestions?

You could make it like a scavenger hunt, where they need to take pictures of typical cosplays, or pick things up that are typical at a convention and one of those things could be a nerd forum flyer... Maybe. It sounds kinda stupid, but that's the only thing I can think of right now.

Because I can...

Well, in my experience, conventions are full of catgirls. Something, something, catgirl photos, something. +50 EXP

Do we know anyone who can be there and looks good in pigtails, a blue mini skirt, green sweater and high leggy thingies that I don't know the name of because I usually discard them immediately when the seduction begins? Because that is who should be handing people some part of the quest. A skimpily dressed nerd girl outfitted like our lady mascot would sell this place like skimpily dressed hot cakes.

I will ponder on an actual contribution and see what I come up with.

Now we just need to find one local, who also happens to be a member of the forum.

I thought of a real one last night. How about the quest is to gather people cosplaying to form an adventuring party? They have to go up and ask someone dressed up as a knight, a mage, a priest, and a thief, then bring the whole group back.

Or catgirls. Get them to bring you catgirls. For science.

I dig it.

And Spleen, we may need to work in a catgirl or Danico here is going to burst an artery.

I don't know how many people will be dressed up, I've never been to one. Sounds like a fun idea though.

Well this one is Comicpalooza, so it is more comic oriented than anime, though anime cosplayers will absolutely be there as well. Obviously going to vary a bit, but at most cons somewhere between 20 and 40 percent of people cosplay. The majority of people will not be in costume.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak for me.

You give them a quest to find the person with the ! over their head, whom then tells them that they have to go on the forum to collect their reward.

The reward is a firm :bill:'ing.

Why does everyone like catgirls so much?

I don't think that's how it works.

I found something for you to wear.

Would Kenny be opposed to being a princessu, or does he have something already?

The majority of people will not be in costume.

So far I have found that tends to be standard
I'm going to a convention this weekend, I will be in costume though. I usually go dressed up.

The Chattanooga one must be the exception. About 80% of the people who weren't running events or selling stuff were in costume. 20% of those people were cute girls who shed their introvert shells to dress up as slutty foxes or bakeneko or something to that extent. Another 20% were from homestruck and were meh. Maybe 5% were furry. There was a whole family that dressed up as characters from One Piece. The toddler Luffy was adorable.

Also, did I ever tell the story of my magic penis? No? Maybe? Whatever. At the last convention, as a buddy and I were sitting in front of the registration for the cosplay contest, a person in a wolf fur suit (I don't know the proper term. She was a wolf and there was probably a zipper for her naughty bits) walked by. I said to my friend, "What do you think she's from?"  My friend said, "Dunno. And how do you know she's a she?"

So it turned into a game between us of guessing the gender of furries. And of the ones who took of their suits in front of us, I was seven for seven.

That's right. I can tell the gender of genderless wolf people.

I don't know how many people will be dressed up, I've never been to one. Sounds like a fun idea though.

I never dress up and feel like the odd man out every time. Some of those costumes are amazingballs and the free time required to look cool (sic) must be enormous. I'm not enough of a nerd to cosplay.
