EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS

It's the story of Moses and his being booted from Egypt and then he finds out he is Hebrew. Not a new story, visually it's pretty, factually (and you must realize that I believe in God, I'm just not as devout as most of my family) it's an ok representation....by Hollywood standards.
Moses talked to a burning bush, not a young boy.
Moses never made it to the promised land. (Though they never showed him there, they kinda implied that he made it)
Moses actually broke the tablets, they never showed.
Like I said, for Hollywood it was good. I'm sure that there are more inconsistencies, so take it with a grain of salt.

It's not really meant to be true to the source material. They were already lambasted (and the movie was banned!) in Egypt for depicting a tale that was pro-Zionist. Even if they took the story word for word, it'd probably wind up in even bigger trouble. Egypt is nowhere near the most heavily-censored country with regards to religious freedom, after all.
I want to see it eventually. I'm under no illusions it'll probably be kinda bad. Hollywood tends to over-action things in order to draw an audience (Look at the movie Pompeii for example; instead of just being about a volcanic eruption they managed to fit like demons or some shit in there)

Heard it was a good theater movie, but I'll see it later on Redbox or whatever. I'm not seeing a Biblical movie made by a well known director in a theater, not after hearing about the awful shit that was Noah. I'll be expecting a rug pull at every turn.

I was very disappointed. I mean, I enjoyed the beginning, til he married and stuff. But the rest of it... Totally comparable with Noah. He didn't even used his staff to open the sea, it just evaporated.

Let's not forget its pretty much an all white cast. Very accurate to the myth.
That was the biggest red flag for me when I saw the first trailer.
Bunch of Egyptians who live in the desert all the damn time?
We need the whitest actors possible, then a splash of John Turturro and Ben Kingsley for colour.
It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

This is one of the things that has always bugged me about the bible...
That and infanticide, lots of infanticide.
