Still just planning to watch Death Note, so I can't give you a perfect answer. However, from the information I've gathered on it I'll say Attack on Titan is probably better.

Kind of off-topic: Tokyo Ghoul, on the other hand is nearly as good in my opinion. (I finally watched it in the last couple days.)

I've only seen Death Note, but I have to second Attack on Titan from what I've heard.

The problem with Death Note is that it sort of loses steam after a certain shocking moment. It drags on for a bit too long and I know a lot people got bored of it. The good news is that is sticks very close to the manga, though.

They're different enough to both be equally good or bad. I haven't seen Death Note, nor do I have any plans to. I had a friend some years back who was totally obsessed with it, which really put me off.

Attack on Titan is ok I guess. I think I've voiced my opinion on it multiple times already, and that is that it's ok. It's not as good as people make it out to be. It started boring, got a little better, then the middle was boring and too strung-out. Then, the ending happened too quickly and just felt rushed and a waste of time.

Death Note was good up until

Spoiler
, it just went downhill from there.

Also my first boyfriend broke up with me for spoiling that, haha.

AOT is pretty good, I enjoyed the anime, but I wouldn't call it amazing.

Death Note all the way. I just can't take Attack on Titan serious when the so-called titans or giants or whatever look like zombified Barbie and Ken dolls. Yeah. I get that those things would be seriously scary if they were real and attacking our cities. But they're not. So they're lame.  :P

A lot of people say Death Note dragged on a little too long and that it really just dropped off at a certain point and those people...are right. I won't mention who, but a certain main character dies only to be replaced by another character who is pretty much the same but whom I care less about because I just spent most of the series investing my feelings in his/her predecessor who should never have died in the first place if they were only going to be replaced by some shallow carbon copy. But I still really loved. It was dark, brooding, bloody, and aesthetically pleasing enough that I still managed to enjoy it even after its drop-off point. And I just love the shinigami. Gods of death with just enough of a human touch and individual motivations to keep them engaging as consistent characters.

I loved both of them since they both had things that made them unique. Plus, they were some of the first Anime I watched, along with SAO and Another.

Death Note is wonderful in my opinion since of all the mind games. I hate mysteries, but I managed to get through the boring parts because I HAD to know who won. Would it be the Genius Criminal Killer that thinks he's a God, or the Genius Detective whom is the best of his career? The Shinigami were entertaining, and also Kira's "girlfriend". That show was my Jelly.  I didn't like how it dragged on a bit, though.

AoT was the first bloody show I've ever watched. I gagged from all the blood until I got used to it. The storyline was unique, the monsters gruesome, and enough blood for anybody to feel warm and fuzzy about. The only thing I didn't like were their expressions. The people sometimes remind me of dolls, and I have a slight fear of dolls.

But you want to know what really is good? Black Butler and Another.
