I can sum up the one thing that mattered when I first got into anime - Toonami
DBZ was the first anime I liked first sure,
but without the slew of variety Toonami had over the years
my feel for anime would be way less broad a spectrum
First anime movie I ever read subtitles and liked- Akira
First anime series I read subtitles and liked - Death Note

FMA: Brotherhood, I'm actually not a big fan of anime but my friend convinced me to give this one a go, promising if I didn't like it she wouldn't ask any more. Turned out I enjoyed that one. We tried watching Elfen Lied after, which was going okay...until incest. >_<

If you liked Brotherhood, you should try the original FMA.

I probably won't, I'm not really into anime, I only ever watch it with one of my friends specifically because I know she likes it and seems to make it more interesting to me.

Ho' boy. First anime... It should be the first Pokemon season. I can even recall the episode. Title I can't but it's the one that the cruise capsizes. Well the actual capsized episode.
If Pokemon doesn't count, I'd have to say Dragonball Z, in Spanish, in Mexico. I was visiting with my mother down there and my cousins were watching it one day. It was one episode and my Spanish was terrible back then. It soon came to the US where I got to see it in English. Loved it, up to the Cell saga. After that, eh, it got repetitive.
Thank Cartoon Network for that old Toonami segment.

I'm not so sure which anime it was, but which ever it was, it was from Toonami. Back in the old days when CN was actually worth watching, I used to procrastinate a lot because of it. Thanks to its closure I've been getting better grades. And my life is back to being boring again. Yes, my life has been boring for years now.

Oh GOD, the Tom legacy. I missed that. I didn't like the last robot though. Looked nothing like the first few.

I prefferred the shorter, plumper Tom. What exactly happened to him again? Like, wasn't there some alien that got aboard the ship and killed him or some weird shit like that? @.@ I don't see why they got rid of him...

Anyway, the first anime I saw was prolly the original Pokemon series wayy back in the day. I loved Pokemon and still do, though I don't really watch the TV show anymore. I really lost interest after the Johto arc. I'm a die hard Misty fan. If they bring her back as part of the main cast I might start watching again, but I doubt they will.

Back in those times I also liked Sailor Moon and Dbz. Later I tried to get into Inuyasha, but the filler was so...ughhh. I couldn't stay interested in it. Got so repititive :\

I don't know man, Tom just kept being replaced. And about Pokemon, I also lost interest after the first series Got to.. I don't know. Too cliche and it was always the same thing. I enjoyed some movies though, the old ones of course. I've never seen the new ones. Sailor Moon, and DBZ are obviously on my fav list from my childhood, and Inu Yasha was ok, and I do think it got a bit repetitive, but heck, it was still a good anime series for me. What I hated, despised, so much was the fact that he could never choose between Kykyo, who I hated with passion as well. I don't care for romance themes. and I don't mind any hints, but for crying out loud, Kykyo was just a bitch, and if he was gonna choose someone, I'd rather he'd stick with Kogome. At least she had a personality.

Spirited Away. It was the only anime I liked when I was a kid, actually.

I'm not sure which one I saw first, but the main ones I remember seeing on TV are Cardcaptors, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Digimon. Which of these came first for me I don't know, nor did I know they were anime at the time.
