I saw Dragonball Z and Tenchi Muyo around the same time...they were both my first anime. I preferred Tenchi Muyo though, since it had Ryoko and she made me laugh.

Vampir Hunter D, when Cartoon Network was still in its young stages and they showed anime movies late at night one summer. After that I was hooked.

Excel Saga. Excel Saga has no storyline whatsoever. I am always left more confused at the end of an episode than I was at the beginning. I swear it's for people that have the attention span of a gnat.

It's a deep, multilayered coming of age story that pretty much boils down to being lessons about maturity and puberty.

Helpfully diagramed by giant robots coming out of the protagonist's face

Mine would have to be Sailor Moon and Pokemon might be second. My first cartoon though was Batman: The Animated Series. I was 2 when that came on.
