Hey, there folks

Im currently considering to exchange the Seymour Duncan Pickup Set in one of my Guitars against an active set. I´ve already installed

a EMG Zakk Wylde Pro Set in one of my others - and honestly ... I can´t say that I was overly impressed so another EMG Set is out of Question.

Some time ago I stumbled upon A Vid on Youtube comparing EMG with Seymour Duncan Blackouts ... and well, especially the triplets in the end

are much more after my fancy. I´ll post the video down below. Now ... does anyone here have any kind of experienes with the Blackouts ? Any kind of input would be nice ...

I guess me. But I'm pretty average. My fingers are too small to hold the bar chords properly so I just noodle here and there.

I use to own a 1995 Caparison TAT, one of the pickups was fucked so I swapped her for a nice big bag of weed. I sorta regret it now, but really I don't :)

My hands are probably smaller than yours and I have no issues with bar chords. :P Guarantee you either haven't practiced it enough or you're trying to hold it wrong.

I have a 7-string Ibanez RG series prestige that I don't really play much. The Edge Pro 7 tremolo bridge pisses me off. I'm used to hard-tail guitars and enjoy some palm muting, adapting to palm mute on a floating bridge never occurred to me before having the Ibanez. Now I'm just lazy and can't be bothered, so it's out-of-tune and probably needs a re-string.
It has passive pickups and gives a nice clean tone. The guitars I mainly play have Schecter Diamond Plus pickups (Omen-7, SGR C-1), so are pretty similar. Actually all of my guitars have passive pickups ... so I don't have any experience using EMG's/Seymour Duncan Pickups. I have read however, that they're great if you want to play with distortion, and probably shouldn't be fitted if you enjoy a nice clean sound on your guitar.
Good luck.

Neat. Are you in a band? Any songs online?

No band .... no YouTube up-loads =(

Don't really have time in my lifestyle to be in a band, like to actually be in a proper band, not just play covers in random pubs for a bar tab. (not interesting or worth it)

It was different when I was younger, used to play in a couple bands with mates and had great times ... things change though. Plus I moved to the opposite side of the country.

I've got friends in bands, and have been there from the start for a couple, and seen how much they've evolved and grown. I just don't have the capacity for that, unless I literally drop everything and give it 100% of my effort.

Kinda sad, but  whatever that's me, I'm happy doing what I do

You could try the banjo, as I heard it is much easier to learn but also hard as nails to master.

I give you, Steve Martin's banjo mastery in "Foggy Mountain Breakdown":

He won a Grammy for this.
