My dad and I watched Cosmos over it's original run a couple months ago. My dad was pretty set in his scientific beliefs, and for the most part it wasn't a big deal but he refused to believe climate change was a thing, and I remember my sister and I, who were taught all the green thinking stuff in school, had a few silly disagreements with him while growing up. When we came back from school after watching An Inconvenient Truth, we had to watch The Great Global Warming Swindle after supper.
Well we started watching Cosmos, and with each episode my dad was telling me how much more he liked Neil deGrasse Tyson with each episode, and how interesting the stuff he was talking about was, stuff that my dad learned long ago but forgot about.
And then came the climate change episode. We watch it basically in silence, where we would usually talk throughout an episode, and when it ends, my dad says, "I don't like it." to which I ask "like what?"
"Anyone else would have a political agenda behind what they're saying but he just wants you to learn and think, he's not trying to push you into anything. I don't like it."
Anyway I'd like to thank Mr. Tyson for opening minds and inspiring so many people. His continuation really lives up to Carl Sagan's original series.
