Any of you guys have any CL experiences?

About to buy a bass guitar off (what I assume is) a guy on the cheap, hoping I don't get stabbed/raped.  :D

I was offered a job as a male escort.

Of course I declined...after only a little consideration.

I've sold a couple items on CL, hasn't been too shaddy. Just make sure to meet him somewhere in a public place, like a gas station or small plaza. Makes things less risky. >.>

When I was in high school I bought sold and repaired game consoles using Kijiji (craigslist in Canada)

I think the worst I had was this Indian guy. He brought in a PS3 to get the Bluray player replaced and to have the hard drive upgraded.

I give him a quote telling him roughly how long to expect it will take, and how much it should cost. He agrees and I manage to keep the eventual price close to the quote.

Fucker tries to haggle me down from the original quoted price by offering me $20.

Fuck that, the Bluray drive cost $40 and the new HDD he wanted was $75. He ended up paying $140 for the job. (getting the bluray drive from a Sony authorized dealer would probably have cost him closer to $100 at the time.)

Had a try to rob me at knife point after leaving the mcdonalds once, pulled out a bigger knife and told him to try it.

This is why I tended to lurk around in public for a few hours or do some stuff if I had shopping or w/e to do.

Had a guy pay me $50 just to wipe and clean an Xbox360 for him. Found a number attached to the Xbox Live profile and it belonged to some kid in town. His older brother hosted a party a week before that guy came to me with the console, turned out it was that guy was the one who stole it (or bought it knowingly stolen, he was at the party, and the Xbox had stickers on it still.

Cops were called, and guy was caught. Dumbass gave me his number and address. I kept the $50 and the guy never came back for it.

I always met people at populated places like a coffee shop or McDonalds, never gave them my address. I would schedule meeting them with having other stuff to do so I'd be guaranteed to be out and about for a couple hours in case they decided to follow me for a while or something.

The only experience I've had with craigslist is the best sex I've had so far
and it was really decent sex.

People think I'm crazy for doing that, but I'm still here with all my parts, so I'm good

Because I can...

I feel like you're the only one using it properly.

Met my podcast partners through it so that's good, though had to stop talking to one guy who was incredibly insistent on me coming to his apartment at weird hours, never did.

I clearly missed something.

I've only gone on craiglist when I was looking for places to rent. That was the scariest thing I ever did. This guy stated he was renting a two bedroom apartment and the pictues he showed were beautiful. Went to look at.... nothing like the pictures AND he told me that he would be living in the basement.... Total creeper.

I'm a Liger.... Want to see my Liger impersonation?

I'm sort of imagining it looking like that house in "The Silence of the Lambs"

Status update: unstabbed and unraped, the bass was in mint condition (guy played it once. intonation is perfect, won't even need to take it in for a setup)

Spoiler

I want to learn to play guitar...

I haven't personally used the guitar I linked but I've heard good things from others and with the 3 pickups you get a really wide tonal range (read: when you know what you're doing you can get a lot of different sounds from just this one guitar).

I've learned exclusively from Rocksmith, if you actually stick with it and practice you'll be playing well in no time. (they actually have a 60 day challenge - practice one hour a day for 60 days and you'll be near an intermediate level barring any bad habits you've let yourself fall into) I've been playing since December and I'd feel confident playing live somewhere.

I'll upload a video for point of reference, it's going to take like 90 minutes though.

I actually have access to an electric guitar. Can I use anything with rocksmith?

It's gotta be an electric with a 1/4" jack. (basically any electric guitar) I've heard of people using electric acoustics but it ends up sounding like dookie.

Here's a sample of what RS2014 is like.

(my g string (orange) falls out of tune after the first bend so it sounds a little fuked but it gets the point across)
