So, because everyone is singing the praises for the film, I plan to see it in theatre at some point. Hopefully I can avoid having to pay for 3D

The theater I saw it at made a mistake and the normal showing I paid for was accidentally shown in 3-D.  So, free 3-D.

As for Groot... "Suuuper Man..."

THIS.

This has nothing to do with anything but as a huge fan of The Iron Giant I couldn't help but notice that Groot is exactly like Iron Giant. I mean, both are alien (Iron Giant is a robot of course but people thought he came from outer space, so), both are taller than normal, their vocabulary is rather small and hence people think they're not as intelligent, they're both very kind and selfless but are able to turn into total badasses and beat up bad guys in order to protect their loved ones, and

Spoiler

On top of this, both are voiced by Vin Diesel.

Coincidence? I think not.

But yes, I absolutely loved GotG and I can't wait for the dvd release. I loved the seemingly bad jokes (they were so bad they were hilarious) and great music and amazing visuals and fantastic characters, in fact I loved everything about it. I was a little skeptical at first when I went to see it, but as soon as the movie was over and the end credits rolled, I knew it was my new favourite Marvel movie ever. And I had Hooked on a Feeling playing in my head for the next two weeks.

And it was glorious.

Finally watched the Blu-ray I bought; it was nice to see it again! I still would like to read the comics at some point.

Ha! Groot totally was the Iron Giant! That was another fantastic movie... I'm bummed it did so poorly and that animation studio didn't do anything after Eight Crazy Nights. I really thought their visuals were stunning. I sure miss traditional animation.

Finally got around to watching Guardians this very evening.

I thought it was ok.

I actually liked Captain America: The Winter Soldier and IronMan 3 better than this.

But it was still a solid film. The colorful backgrounds and colors are what got me. Stunning.

If you grew up with and/or love '80s music, the movie is for you.

I too liked The Winter Soldier more, but I think GotG was just slightly better than Iron Man 3.
