Hello chaps and chapettes,

Really I was just wondering if anyone here has asthma and knows of ways to control it? My gf can't afford medication and today just walking outside for about 20 minutes was enough to trigger a small attack. I've bought here a bucket load of caffeine pills to open her airways but I was wondering if anyone here knows whether there are any over the counter products or things like the Himalayas salt inhalers that work that don't cost half a year's salary? I'd really appreciate any help her because it's horrible to just have to watch and not be able to help.

The only thing I know if is taking allergy medication before she goes out. Would help prevent an attack.

Sup bro.

There are many 'short term' remedies such as rubbing your chest with Vix Vapor rub/deep heat, taking a hot bath, inhaling steam of a boiling pot of water, relaxing breathing techniques......

But I always reach a point where nothing seems to work anymore, I absolutely need to have a blue inhaler.....

You must understand that your g.f's asthma is being triggered by your surroundings. I'm guessing you guys live in a place surrounded by trees and quite possibly a river nearby. (My allergies go apeshit when there are pine trees around) When I lived in Perth, Western Australia (In the middle of the desert) my asthma was fine because of the dry climate.  Asthma + humidity = Constant attacks.

There really isn't any cheap ways of doing this, In the end I would advise one of your loved ones back in England to send you the cash necessary to buy an inhaler. It's probably going to get worse once spring/summer arrives because of the pollen..... I never fuck around with asthma, there we're times when I thought I was a goner.... Sorry for the shitty answer.... But I speak from my own personal experience...... I hate asthma, I really do. I feel your pain.....

Good luck bro.

We've actually got some cash for her to go see a doctor but she needs to convert it which means going into the mall which...is too far away to walk to with someone who had such bad asthma. Her Mum won't drive her for unknown reasons. Any way yeah I figured it would be, we do live near a stream and some woods actually, I'm inclined to believe you're watching me, Rob. ;)

I think I'll just have to put her in my luggage and have her get some medication of the NHS when I go back home. I know ultimately she needs the meds but really, we just need something to tide her over for when she's out and about. We can do all the stuff you've mentioned at home which is fine, I made her a cup of tea which helped some, but the actual 'attack' came when we were walking about and there's nothing I could do except sit her down/ stand still and see if she could get her breath back. It's fucking horrible because I feel absolutely powerless.

Feeling powerless is absolutely one of the worst things in the world. I'm so sorry.

Is any alternate form of transport available? Or is there some kind soul you can reach out to for help from point A to point B?

And the fuck is wrong with her mom?

Too lazy to get her child life-saving medicine.

Way too damn familiar for my tastes. And I meant friends or neighbors or such.

:/ thing is I'm offering to pay for the meds too, hell I bought the caffeine pills and this stuff will help until we can get her the proper stuff. Well without going into details, there's no one else to take her, no. We might be able to go on Friday to get some stuff it seems, we'll see. Bums me out maaaan, bus me out.

Why has no one realised the glaringly obvious solution?

Gol.

You need to stop being so damn attractive.

You are clearly taking her breath away more than you should be.

It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

Depending on the state, there should be nearly free health coverage for this sort of thing. There's a clinic here that offers $15 doctor and dentist visits with $2 prescriptions. I'm not sure about other states, but in Texas you're not even required to pay the bill.

That's pretty lucky, here it seems to be just as expensive as normal healthcare. :(
