I'm open to any suggestions. Right now I'm looking at games such as Unreal and Quake. Marathon is another possible option.
Basically, the game needs to be free or cheap, something that I can host a server of, and something that the community will enjoy.

Killing Floor would be cool, it's reasonably old and cheap now, plus they still support it with updates.

Hardware isn't really an issue, more of just getting everything setup nicely.

Garrys Mod would be interesting.
Mods like SCars and TDMCars would be useful to have (for driving and such) and people can build all the things if it's sandbox.

I actually second this. A TTT or Prop hunt server would be a lot of fun.

I second the TF2 recommendation. Been watching some videos of it and I have a real desire to play again.

There's no reason you can't play on it. The new launcher lets you choose which version to use.

I know it does, it's just that it's a pain to have to switch out if I want to go from my regular servers to NF server, or from NF server over to one of my regulars.
