Well, three bosses killed, 37 deaths so far.
I'm loving it.

I had Dark Souls on my 360 but never finished it before I sold the thing.
Waiting for Dark Souls I to go on sale for steam before I get into Dark Souls II.

There's no link between 1 and 2, so it doesn't really matter what order you play it in.

Haven't played the second game yet, getting it on Friday. Played the first to death, and I will go on record saying this.
Dark Souls isn't a hard game. Demons Souls was harder, and even that wasn't too bad.

I think Demon's Souls had harder Bosses/Enemies, meanwhile Dark Souls I/II had more treacherous areas. It's not even the enemies killing me most of the time, it's the goddamn holes in the ground, narrow passages and wild rolling stones. Ah Sen's fortress ..

Nope, I can probably do a no-deaths run without much preparation

Yeah, Demons Souls was by far harder boss-wise. Adjudicator pissed me the fuck off for so long, because it kept managing to clip through the area and hit me through the walls/pillars, and I was playing pure dex pretty much so one hit killed me xD
Had to farm shit up there, but aside from that it was cake.

Dark Souls is hard in the same sense that throwing a paper ball in to the garbage from across the room is.
You think you have it, easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Then you miss the can and have to go get the paper ball and figure you will give it another shot from across the room again.
You miss three or four more times and it becomes less of a playful thing to kill some time and more of a task that you are completing on principle alone.
I am going to do this, even if it takes me a million tries, because fuck you.
It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

Should I played Demon's Souls first or Dark Souls?
Not going to play Dark Souls II first since it is going to be the most expensive.
EDIT: Looks like Demon's Souls isn't on Steam, but I think it is on PS3 so still an option.

Start with Demon's Souls, it's easier to figure out where to go next as you have areas you travel to rather than open world. I think there's also less items and bosses so there's that. It should prepare you enough so that you don't run around in Dark Souls like a clueless headless chicken. Instead you'll be running around like a cautious headless chicken.

Yeah, that is pretty much what happened in my brief time with Dark Souls when I had it before.

We had someone trade it in like 2 days after it was released cause he "died too much"....I think he missed the point of the game...
Also, I loved this https://www.youtube....h?v=gqzsI8jmwTs

My first character was the knight (I think? The one who starts without a shield) and it wasn't too bad. I spend the majority of my time dodging anyway, and the lack of a shield means I have less weight.
I haven't played in a while now. I got the Elite Knight Armour and ended up stopping in uh. Dead Man or something. I forget. I didn't boost my stats much so dodge-rolls are now half-assed frontflips, I love it

As much as I love quick-roll build, it's pretty suicidal on first playthrough, when you don't know when and what is going to attack. Any tight passages or bosses whose attacks you can't simply dodge are giving me hell.
But I guess that's part of the proper Dark Souls experience! The harder it gets, the more satisfaction you gain.
