I've been fighting a funk for a few weeks now. It's hard to have any social interactions and, oddly, even hard to post on here.

I know the feeling. I caught a really bad case of the stomach flu Tuesday and I've basically quarantined myself in my boyfriend's guest room and cleaning everything I touch because I don't want anyone else catching this bug, very little social interaction, even typing online seems like too much effort.

Sucks because this is my week off between my work term and school starting again and I get to spend it sick. Luckily it's on its way out, my appetite is coming back, slowly haha. The lack of social interaction is starting to get to me though.

Forgive the nosedive of heavy that this thread is about to take again.

My cat died. She was six.

We called her our daughter.

I keep repeating to myself, "She's not here... she's not here," and it's taking time to sink in.

I forget and then I remember.

Remembering sucks.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. Losing a pet (especially when you are so attached that they are like your children, I am the same with my babies) is a massive stab in the heart. My sympathies are with you and I hope things get better. <3

Losing pets is one of those things that is always going to happen and no one seems to be prepared for.

It is a shitty endeavour, but sooner or later you will stop feeling like crap about them not being around any more and start having all of the good memories become the first thing that comes to mind when you think of them.

I have lost a few pets and it takes me a while to get out of the habit of calling their names or turning to give them a piece of spare food and realising that they aren't there any more. But sooner or later that stops, and usually not too long after that another animal finds its way in to your life and fills that little hole back up with stupid baby animal antics and fuzz.

It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

In complete honesty, she makes 21 pets I've lost.

My parents weren't... As attentive as they could have been to them in my life.

How do you guys pull yourselves out of these funks? I've not left the house save for work or kids related activities. I watch anime, play skyrim, or watch other people play games on YouTube. I've tried jogging, stepping up my anxiety meds but I can't bring myself to true social interaction

I just survive until the clouds break up. I've become addicted to listening to Game Grumps at work and before that, I was constantly writing fanfiction in my head.

I mostly just wait and cling tightly to whatever I can find.

My head is big enough for me and all my demons, but sometimes they leave me alone.

So you don't do anything outside of that? I do the same actually. Only instead of Game grumps it's Super Best Friends Play and various review shows.

Ooh! It's like my birthday came early!

Well, I do talk to my boyfriend about it, but it's mostly status reports and possible "medicine" (things to make me better). We've been together for like, 8 years, so...

I'm sorry you guys are feeling all sad face. I'm also sorry I haven't been on lately. I've missed you all, being this super pregnant has really cut into my social time. I hope you two are feeling better soon. :)
