I mean I'm new here but I kind of understand Sam's problem. In these kind of forums it always feels as if there is some kind of secret club and you don't know how to become part of it..

Maybe I'm just a paranoid.

There will always be that awkward initial time period when joining a group of people that are already well versed in one another's company.

However, it is only a matter of time and attitude before you, or anyone really, becomes a part of the mass and gets to watch other new blood arrive and see the whole process unfold once more, only from the inside.

You also signed away your soul and first born. No one reads the fine print though.

I guess it is a good thing that I have a surplus of souls locked away in my God Box.

You can have my buddy's first born though, I intend to keep mine.

It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

What are you going to do with all those babies? o.O

And don't feel offended if someone, or everyone answers your topic with a comment completely off-subject and slightly porn, it happens here iv'e noticed...quite a lot :<_<:

We humans give so much for granted, but not many people realize what a fluke it is if we are here today. Remember how lucky we are, and take a minute to be grateful for what we have. Because before you know it, the best has come to past, and you will be left with nothing, but remorse for what was, and what will never be.

I'm not convinced that anything in this particular thread is off-subject & I agree she need not be offended..

I wondered if we were insensitive but it hit me. We're in her thread, we're posting here - three pages now! All these off-subject, slightly pornish posts could easily been made elsewhere but they're invitations to Samantha saying "Jump in any time." We're showing her she's welcome.

Well, that's what I'm telling myself to get to sleep anyways...

(btw does anyone know if "pornish" is an actual word?)

Just have a look at my thread about pen-friends and you will see what i mean mr.bookfloss  ;)

Bu anyway...i think everyone can feel unwanted on here, because transmitting affection and warmth through words is not an easy task, let alone to people you don't know. I say just give it a try on here, and if anything bad happens, say "oh well, screw them, they don't know me and i don't know them enough to care"  B)

But anyway, please to meet you HelloNerdySam, i hope we will get along, and i hope you will find friends here  :D

I can't agree enough about how frustrating the limitations of words are.

I do hope you find the Pen-Friend you're looking for & until you do I hope you stay & practice on the threads... I also hope you stay after you find your Pen-Friend.    :D

It's Spleen we're talking about here...so I'm thinking legion of the damned. Children are easily brainwashed remember. ;)

I think this is very true of any written-word format method of communication, that's why I love the shit out of smileys/emotes. I'm a sarcastic person and I do worry sometimes that people might misconstrue what I'm saying as offensive. I like to think I'm kind and affectionate inside though, I'm not mean-spirited by any stretch of the imagination.

When I joined up here I think I was still sort of trying to be someone I wasn't, employing the whole 'hurr hurr I'm such a mean person' matrix that some people just never lose after they leave school. Any way, whilst I definitely wasn't out to rub anyone the wrong way, that's what happened a couple of times to some members on here who are actually really awesome, adorable people (who I love to bits of course), I said some things that got taken the wrong way and then I made a big 'ole hissy fit. Any way, that's ancient history now. So erm...I think my point was, just be who you are, or something? And use lots of smileys?

I mean, there's a forum I've been on for nearly six years now, it's been around since 2000 and it's very...incestuous. We get maybe two or three new members a year that stick around, just enough to replace the odd old-timer that finally throws their hat in. Any way, even in that place where everyone knows each other, lots of people have met in person and we all share a common interest in a few of the same things, people tend to be at each others necks a lot. I mean, this is a forum where we saved one of the members from committing suicide! The people in this place are a million times more caring of people's feelings and stuff, even though it's a lot less tightly knit. I'd definitely recommend people come here because the community is so nice and 99% of the people get along with one another!

You know, all that wisdom, kindess and sincerety you just delivered is completely undone by having Patrick chewing away in your signature, Aiden.

I got lost by everyone's conversations and I can't seem to keep up with what's going on.

Also I express myself on here and I feel as if I'm annoying everyone...I try to help out. I think I'm really bad at comminicating in general for the record... :(

Not sure what to think anymore to be honest...

I think your a little to concerned about what you think we think about you, and not how we actually feel about you.

We are all here to chill out and get our nerd on. usually with wreckless abandon.

Who cares how smooth anyone is with their words and how clever they are with their wits.

My suggestion would be to use us as a testing ground for your social weapons.

I am going to assume you aren't a dynamo when it comes to in person social interactions and that anxiety is translated here to the internet.

Well even if you do say silly shit here you won't suffer any consequences, we are all just possibly imaginary people chatting at you through wee little bits of data flying through cables. So practice what works and what does not work for you as far as conversations go and translate that in to the real world.

Use us, use us hard....

Sammy, I'm assuming you're a chick, so he's just a little advice. When on the internet, flaunt the fact that you're a woman with boobicles, then no man will ever be annoyed with you. Not the ones that haven't touched boobs IRL, at least.

Also, the thing Affray said could be misconstrued as either useing us for communication practice or sex. Please, don't get confused. I want you to use us for sex. Pillow talk is the only form of communication we need, babycakes.
