I have a question. Does American Horror Story get dramatically better after the first season? I watched around half of the first season and found it incredibly silly. I'm not trying to insult anyone's opinion, I honestly want to know what the fuss is about.

As for horror, I like Silent Hill (I've never played any of them, but their story and music is great). I also think The Thing is great. I also enjoyed a let's play I saw of the Penumbra games. I also enjoyed a let's play of D and D2.

i didn't really dig the american horror story im more of a classic horror movie guy like the original Friday the 13 and nightmare on elms street. On top of that i love sci fi horror such as alien, predator, and Jason x. games wise i tend to stay away from horror games but i have played a few silent hill games along with outlast (scared the piss out of me literally) and i tend to go back and play slender man every now and agin.

Seconded, I tried one episode of the American Horror Story when I found out about its high scores, but then left disappointed by the mediocre acting and completely non-immersing story. But then again, it doesn't have much rivalry in that genre ..

Favourite horror: Cabin in the woods. But it's meant to be a kind of satire and parody of other horror movies, still a great ride.

Other than that, The Thing, Alien, Exorcisms of Emily Rose, the first Paranormal Activity, Sinister and Shutter were all great in my opinion. Event Horizon was pretty cool too.

Thirded - came off like they were trying to 'shake things up' but only recycled borderline horror cliches.

Otherwise - The Mummy [1932], Night of the Living Dead [1968], The Excorcist [1973], Halloween [1978], The Shining [1980], The Ring [2002], Paranormal Activity [2007], The Conjuring [2013] & most of the ones already listed. Does Shaun of the Dead [2004] count as favorite horror? It has a lot of humor in it.

Big American Horror Story Fan. Just haven't been able to keep up with third season as much as I wanted. As for horror movies I love them. I'm a big Texas chainsaw massacre fan because of it being based on Ed Gein. Also a serial killer fanatic.

Favorite movies though:

-Psycho

-Texas Chainsaw Massacre

-Nightmare on Elm St

-Friday the 13th

-American Psycho

-Haunting In Connecticut

-Night of the living dead

-George Romero Films.

-etc

Ironically most AHS Fans say that season one was the best season. It's a good show if you give it a chance.

See, that makes me nervous about giving AHS a real chance. Cause what I hear is: I'll get sucked in on the first season but then watch it go downhill from there. Does the writing simply going south? Or are the producers bleeding the series out for as many seasons as they can?

Sorry if I seem really bitter, I'm just really bitter. Mostly from what Hollywood has done to me the past three summers. :<_<:

it's not that it goes down hill its just people's interest change. Honestly from what I seen in season 3 I enjoy it but season 2 was confusing by the first episode.

People like what they like, no need to get overly upset about it. Some people get excited about the TV show. Where others may find it down right boring & non interesting. You either love it or hate it: and I love it. And others may completely hate it which is fine if you do. To each their own you know?

As for my favorite horror movies I'll name ten of them, in no order.

~A Night Of The Living Dead

~Halloween

~The Shining

~Psycho

~Rosemary's Baby

~Dawn Of The Dead

~Paranormal Activity Movies

~Sinister

~The Conjuring

~The House Of The Devil

& many many more! ;)

Dawn Of The Dead

Do you mean the [2004] version with Ving Rhames? Cause the [1978] Dawn of the Dead is excellent. It starts off intense, and there's lots of blood, but as the movie progresses the gore vacillates between gruesome & laughable. I'm not sure if that's due to the special effects of 1978, Romero's dark humor, or both.

There's this great scene where one of the survivors asks why the zombie apocalypse is happening & Peter says his grandma told him the dead would walk the earth when hell had no more room.

(Man, the creepy stuff I get misty-eyed about   )

It's a great zombie movie - it really is - but I don't think it measures up to it's precessor: Night of the Living Dead [1968] - I mean that film never takes a break from being creepy. They're both excellent but in differing ways & I don't know if Romero meant to do that...

Alright, I'm rambling BUT Hitchcock's The Brids [1963] in addition to Psycho [1960] should be on my favorites as well. ;)

I'm having trouble wording this. I'm not saying "Why do you like this?" as in "You're opinions are objectively wrong, and I hate you, and I literally consume YouTube comments for sustenance ", I'm saying it as "What do you like about it?" as in "I don't like it, but I want to know why you do".

So tell me internet, why are you wizards of AHS?

I get what you guys are saying...

The show is dark. It's not scary but dark. It makes you think of what others think about. It's the twisted thoughts that come into someone's mind.

For example first season the sex scene with tate that ends up being a ghost that ends up getting the mother/wife pregnant.

Or season 3 where they are witches and what the witch did to the guy who had sex with her daughter.

Things like that. It interests me. Everyone has their own opinion but when you watch it you kind of have to be open minded.

Is that like the plague in 28 Days later? or the plague in I am legend? or the plague in REC? or the plague in The Andromeda Strain? or the plague in Quarantine? or the plague in Contagion? or the plague in Black Death? or the plague in Cabin Fever? or the plague in Daybreakers? or the plague in Rabid? or the plague in Resident Evil? or the plague in The Happening? or the plague in The Invasion? or the plague in Seventh Sign? or the plague in 12 Monkeys? or the plague in The Lost Future?

I love the original Daw Of The Dead movie: after watching the original Night of the Living Dead movie I knew I had to give that movie a try. Ever since I saw that movie, I checked out of his other horror movies. Day Of The Dead was excellent too! :) The Birds and Psycho are amazing too, I can't believe I forgot about those, lol! There's so many great horror movies out there.

I checked out of his other horror movies.

Fun trivia: George A. Romero - whom you're referring to in the quote - has a small appearance in Silence of the Lambs [1991] which I'm not sure counts as true horror. It's billed as mystery first, suspense second, & then horror. Nonetheless a great film and, if it qualifies, I'd add it to my list.

By the way, I never did get a ruling on Shaun of the Dead [2004]: does it count as regular horror? or does its darkly humorous nature bump it into a different category?

Your thread, your call.   :)

Will do, Btw I can't believe I didn't mention The Hunger [1983] with David Bowie. Awesome flick & arguably the best aberrant vampire film ever.

Most people either love it or can't stand it. I think it's instantly moody, visually stunning with a great soundtrack. And it's freakin' creepy to consider the vampire's fate.

I love love love Horror anything. I'm the weird person that goes to horror movies in theatre no matter how bad they are, and plays scary games alone in the dark shouting NOO at the tv screen. I love the adreneline.

It takes a lot to actually scare me. Last movie I remember actually coming home and being scared of things afterwards was The Others (which Ii know isn't scary, but there was one scene that freaks me out to this day and I will not look out a door with no lights on). I don't actually have a favorite horror movie, but anything scary COUPLED with sci fi, loves it. I also only watch ghost hunting shows, so I'm just strange.

But scary games are my jam. I love Silent Hill, Amnesia, Dead Space, and I'm super pumped for a return to horror with The Evil Within.

I dies for a bit of horror genre suff.
