Anyone on here still play the Pokemon TCG? Or did any of you used to play? If so what is/was your favorite deck you've ever built.

I used to play when I was about 10 years old. Neither me nor any of my friends knew the rules at the time, we just kinda... improvised

I didn't have any formal decks, but my favorite card was my shiny Charizard that I ended up selling.

How much did you sell it for? That thing is worth a pretty penny these days. I pretty much collected when I was a kid. I had a lot of the original cards until my younger brother stole them and gave them away at school a few years ago. I managed to get a big chunck of my collection back and it's grown since then.

Haha. You wouldn't get very far, trust me. Pokemon players know their cards very well and the original cards are rotated out so they're not tournament legal anyway. If you tried something like that there's a possibility you might get banned from the league, not that it would really matter to you since you don't play lol

Thats okay, the cardstock I used isn't think enough for them to seem realistic when actually held.

Spoiler

but in a binder they are pretty convincing, No one has noticed until I tell them.

I have a shit ton of the original cards I collected with KrankyKoala as a kid. I might have to find them if shiny charizards are valuable, I think I've got two. >.>

It's usually the back of the cards and the weight of the card that gives them away ulitimately. Competitive players can tell the difference pretty fast, well the ones in the Master league anyway. There might be a some in the junior league that could be fooled if their newer and pretty young but the Master league players tend to look after those guys.

The Charizards if in good condition are around $60-$75 around the time if it's from the original set. They're worth more if they're first edition or shadowless. If they're from base set 2 they're around $15-$20 once again depending on the market at the time. The market usually gets better in the summer since that's when the big competitions are and card values will go up no matter what the card is. Even if it insn't legally playable in tournaments.

I didn't know how to play the card game, but we used to play this game where you have to throw your cards as close to the wall. Won a few good cards that way.

In the end I think the rarest cards I had were the 3 Legendary birds and a promo Mew card I got from watching one of the movies.

1999 was a goooooooddddd poke year lol

Nice! I'm currently taking a break from competitive play until some of the broken cards are rotated out. There seems to the the few power house decks that everyone is using. I miss the creativity and the deck variety from back in the Platinum days. I still play with my friends but we created a new format that involves 100 card decks. (kind of like edh in magic where you can't have repeat cards except for energies.)

Pokemon is great fun. It wasn't the first TCG Iearned how to play (that would be Magic) but it's still awesome. For some reason I always love using grass. That's my favorite type, even in the video game, but I commend you for being able to play competitively! I play for fun because there's no way I'd be able to put together appropriate decks. Especially because I'm poor. :(

I have gotten real good at picking out fake cards though. :D So that's a good thing. My cousin brought over tons of her cards one time, and I had found that most of them she bought from a flea market turned out to be fakes, which was a shame. :(

As far as the new Fairy and Dragon types added in, (my family shares cards, so I say "we" meaning my family) we only have 1 fairy type, 1 dragon type, but only 1 fairy energy.
Anyway. I'm kind of just rambling and jumping around on this topic. I'm sure I'll have more focus in a future post. :P I get excited to talk about something and just start going all over the place with it.
