I took French in high school but now I can only understand slow easy french. lol I suppose I could manage a simple comversation if necessary.

 

I took up Latin in college and loved it. But yet again because I didn't have major use for it in my daily life it has faded. Although I do tend to have random dreams in Latin... weird

Biggest disappointment in high school was signing up for Latin and having it cancelled because there were only three of us.

That was something that hit me in school, too. Though I signed up for Spanish. They didn't have enough spaces for everyone so they seemed to have randomly selected who not to allow in the class. (note that this was the second year, I had a consistent B+ or better grade, and my surname begins with C so it can't have been done on a name basis)

I so so soooo wish I could speak another language fluently. I use to speak French and Spanish at at level where I could go abroad and look after myself fairly well without relying on my English. Now though I can just about remember a few phrases. Je voudrais une fromage, sil vous plait or something.

 

Growing up as a Catholic I learnt a little fractured Latin, en nomine padris, et filli et spiritus sancti, amen, and all that bollocks.

 

I'm so envious of people who seem to have the formula for language acquisition cracked. >.>
