While I am not as into the new episodes as much I still find them entertaining and seasons 2 through 12 are still my favorite TV of all time. Was just wondering if anyone else out there still cared, kind of seems like the fanbase died off.
Does Anyone Still Like The Simpsons?

It's one of those things where I'll probably watch it if it's on but I won't go out of my way to watch it. I feel you on the fanbase though, don't hear much about The Simpsons anymore.

Either I don't know enough about frog butts, or you know too much...

I like the classic Simpsons, none of the new stuff, they've jumped the shark by now by having over 22 seasons
Because I can...

I don't think the Simpsons have became less funny, I've just grown jaded. It's probably as funny as it was when I was a kid, but I just can't bring myself to flip over to Fox to actually look for it.
That being said, my friends and I will quote that show well into our golden years. I found myself singing 'I am so smart. S-M-A-R, I mean, S-M-A-R-T,' as I fixed a machine at work the other day. Crush commented on it. Love was fallen into again.
I yelled this the other day at my friend, he responded in kind.
My first novel, Seeds of Magic- Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, Kobo, Sony Store

The show did lull a bit in the middle, which is acceptable given they had a twelve year funny streak or so.
Then they got some good writers and hit a streak again up to fairly recent times.
I do however think that the earlier episodes are funnier.
They hit this weird special funny bone that makes me wish I had a room full of people to share every joke with.
Then they had an odd trying too hard to be funny phase, like the entire run of Family Guy, and now they are back to the jokes being about jokes.
(Secretly i hope they are still on when im in my nursing home so i can tell the orderlies to eat my bloomers)
I imagine the show will continue to plug on until Harry Shearer, Hank Azaria, or Dan Castellaneta dies of old age.
Since they are each responsible for roughly one third of the character voices each, it would be quite impossible to continue without them.

No, the newer seasons are different than the originals. Mostly the difference is that in the beginning they only really referenced stuff like Citizen Kane so getting the reference wasn't necessary to get the humor. Now a lot of the jokes are based around pop culture references which completely changes the dynamic of the shows comedy.
It definitely isn't as reference based as Family Guy, but I still don't find the newer episodes as funny as the older ones (I actually have the first 16 seasons on DVD) but the new ones have their moments and can still be someone entertaining.

You should hear the voices I can muster.
And the prank calls I have managed.

Perhaps I shall.

Once you've been on so long you need to rewrite and update your own history, I think you need to be done.

Well it's not as if the show ever had a solid canon. In fact the creators specifically enjoyed being canon-trolls from the beginning.

I have fond memories of The Simpsons, my family would watch it supper time while we were eating, my parents loved it, especially my dad. He has a Homer plush with am actual can of Duff energy drink on his desk. I've basically seen all of the older episodes because we watched it so much,
I don't see the newer ones as much, it doesn't come on as often as it did when I was younger, but I still enjoy them. They get a good laugh out of me.
I think this is relevant as well http://www.lettersof...ge-simpson.html
