[Champion of Cyrodiil]

After spending some time thinking about what to do with the Christmas tree this year, i decided that i'll use a lathe and try to make a staff.  Anyway, i googled 'staff tutorial' just to see some ideas other people might have had and came across this one:

Apparently "Fai' is serious about her staffs.  It's pretty epic looking. However, I was thinking something more rustic, maybe a large stone in the top.  Marble perhaps?

Go for it.

I make wooden walking sticks/canes/staffs from various awesome trees around my area, and it is good fun.

Plus I will be able to arm everyone in my compound with a sturdy stick for offense/defense/traveling when the apocalypse comes around.

I'd go with something more like Gandalf's staff. Either the grey or white version. Both are complex in such a simple way.

Oh God, I motherfucking love staffs. All shapes, all sizes, all colors, all types. Staffs forever.

 

I say go for something old and medieval looking. That way, since it's your first, you don't have to make the staff too perfect, and you can use the mistakes you might make to your advantage. Unless you're a master carver or have a super fancy and expensive tool/machine to do the carving/cutting for you.

 

These aren't tutorials, but you can merge some elements from each staff to create your own:

 

1.  With this one, I really like the top of the staff with the jewel. Gives it a bit of an organic and mage-like feel to it.

 

 

2. This one tho, I'm not sure if it's because I watch too much yiff furry porn, but it reminds me of horse cock. Still, a beautiful staff.

I really love the bits of jewels hanging from the top as if they were piercings.
