Psh, computer science isn't a science. >_>1. Computer Science and Astronomical Science (Astronomy)

It's just the study of math and electricity combined really.

You just had to take the fun out my post....
Anyhow, computer science consist of the scientific and mathematical approach of computing with a variety of theories to go along with it.
The electrical component you speak of is apart of computer architecture, particularly computer engineering, which is a sub-field of computer science.
In other words, you can study bare bones computer science without the electrical component.

Good day chap!

When I had planned on going for my CS degree you had to do both. Pip pip!
I guess it depends on the nature of the computer science program the school has created.
Was the CS major at the school more applied/software engineering oriented?
The school I'm going to transfer to combines both theoretical and practical in their CS program.

The actual programming teacher has never had a real programming job though so he tries to go through algorithm development as if its going to mean anything to 90% of the people that get a job in the field.

It was a healthy mix of architecture and applied programming.

LOL. That sucks.
If you do not mind me asking, do you work in the field of CS or another field?

I'm a jack-of-all-trades programmer. I mostly do web development, a tiny bit of DBA and on rare happy days I get to do actual desktop development.LOL. That sucks.

Classic ASP for legacy systems, migrating towards .NET 3.5 C# w/ MS SQL 2008.

Ah okay. I've been wanting to get started on freelance web development/design but, I got so much crap on my plate that I haven't been able to digest it all so I can consume desert.
Eventually, I would like to either go into software engineering or network security.

It's fun stuff. I definitely prefer the richer and more powerful environment of desktop development, but good luck finding a job doing that.

Thank you!
