Ok, I just bought Skyrim and I wanna know the best race to choose to play as. Anyone have suggestions?

my suggestion is argonian. however, this is the only correct answer and any others you should ignore. yep...

I always go Argonian, always.

I like them because they tend to look the coolest out of all races, and they have the fantastic genetic predisposition of breathing underwater.

More handy than you would think.

 

Aside from that, they are all basically the same when it comes down to brass tacks.

Each race has their own little perks and benefits, but it all comes down to preference.

In Morrowind your race had a fairly strong influence on your gameplay (altmer had more magika, dunmer had a nice balance of magika and fighting prowess, Khajiit were natural thieves with their heightened agility and hand to hand perks), but in Skyrim they really gelled everything together so that no matter how you choose to play, any race can be just as effective as any other. So go with what you think looks the coolest, which should be an Argonian if you have any sense.

 

So, in closing, I agree with LD50.

Khajiit are cool too.

They have a lesser power that lets them see in the dark, and claws, which makes bare knuckle boxing with guards more awesome.

Ok... So I went inactive because I had become so addicted to Skyrim... I ended up just going as a Nord to kind of play along with the story line. I'm currently at the wizard school trying to get the orc wizard to tell me about the Elder Scroll but he won't tell me anything! So now I'm doing all the quests for the school. 

 

Also, out of the two days that I played it I've put a good day of game play on it. So addicting.

I honestly like playing pretty characters but I love the mods they give Argonians.

And there are mods for the game itself that just make the assuming you are in fact on the PC.  

I've seen mods make screenshots of the outdoors look like real life photos.


Also, titties.
