I was confused at first, I thought you were suggesting that you were giving money to fund a terrorist organisation...
I feel that the reason for your investment is probably better than mine.

Yeah, but they match 30% >.>

I have a question: 30% match doesn't seem as good as the full match of a 401k, so why go ira?
This makes me feel old just knowing what you're talking about. Teenage me would have thought Irish bandits like Gol.
On a related note, I got an AARP card in the mail the other day. I can't help but feel like there was a mistake, but I'll be damned if I'll not try to get a senior citizen's discount before I throw it away.

The % match is entirely up to the employer, I believe. 30% is pretty good, I know plenty of places that only do 10%.

I thought the exact same thing at first.
Kindred spirits you and I.
It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

his employer likely opted to use the simple accounts because 401k plans require a bit more upkeep on their part, which may be a hassle given the lower number of employees (you have to qualify as an employer to use a SIMPLE account, less than 100 employees). most people are opting to use ira accounts anyway. the irs added ways to transfer 401k to an ira or roth401k plans rather recently, too.
