What movies would you label with the title "masterpiece"?
For me, "Nightmare Before Christmas," "Princess Mononoke" and "The Princess Bride" are the only three I can think of at the moment.

What about Lord of the Rings? I would say that's a masterpiece.

Gangs of New York. It was masterfully done, and Daniel Day Lewis was amazing as Bill the Butcher. Did you know his accent isn't even used nowadays? Lewis listened to old recordings to get it right.

My first novel, Seeds of Magic- Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, Kobo, Sony Store

Apocalypse Now, The Shining, Citizen Kane, Some Like it Hot. Tons more that I can't think of. x:
If you enjoy the symbolism in film I would say Apocalypse Now, The Shining and Citizen Kane are absolute must sees. Citizen Kane is really old at this point, but every single scene is extremely meaningful in the way its presented.

OH MY GOD, Some Like it Hot. HOW DID I FORGET THAT?
And yeah, I'll totally give LOTR.

The Boondock Saints
The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day.
The Phantom of the Opera
Pulp Fiction
LOTR
pretty much every Studio Ghibli film.

I disagree with the second Boondock Saints movie.
It tried too hard to tap in to the same essence as the first and fell very, very short.
It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

The Big Lebowski I forgot that one!

Did I not mention V for Vendetta? Everyone else seems to hate it or write it off as "mediocre.' I fucking love that movie.

Anything by Hayao Miyazaki is a masterpiece for me. I love that man and his amazing imagination.

Visually, the Harry Potter movies are awesome, and it's really cool to watch them in order and see how CGI has progressed. I'm also a big fan of the Iron Man movies.
Then there are the movies that have aged gracefully and people still watch like The Lion King, and The Jungle Book.

it's ok but like watchmen, which was also alright I fell like it misses the point of the original comics

'Taxi driver' is a masterpiece but I also loved 'evil dead 2 - dead by dawn' which is a masterpiece of gore and humor. I also think 'zatoichi' is a masterpiece.
