This is basically an excuse for me to nerd out about costumes that I've done and hear what you've all done. Also, I don't have any pictures of these anymore unfortunately.

So, for Halloweens in chronological order IIRC:

-Link (age 5)

-Belle (Beauty and the Beast)

-Generic Hippy (Mom picked that one)

-[...]

-Magus (Chrono Trigger) (age 8 or 9)

-Schala

-Popoie (Secret of Mana)

-Zelda (I am DEARLY sorry that I don't have any pics of this one; I worked like hell on that costume)

-Radical Edward (Cowboy Bebop)

-Clopin Trouillefou (the Gypsy king from Hunchback of Notre Dame [another costume I worked like hell on])

And then once I met my boyfriend, our first year we were Bertie and Jeeves (Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster series) with a twist: I was Jeeves but dressed as Bertie, and he was Bertie dressed as Jeeves.

The second year, we were Gomez and Morticia (I was Morticia).

Haven't done anything since, but those were pretty awesome.

Pretty cool stuff.

Small children dressing up as Link seems like a surefire win in any situation.

Also, I should mention that I am an embroiderer by trade, so should you ever require some nerdy sewing done for a future costume I am your man.

I have done a handful of crests/emblems for cosplayers before and have found it to be some of the more fun work I have done.

Those costumes are pretty awesome, would've been cool to see pictures :P

I've made a few costumes over the past year and 1/2, some were helping, others were for me

The ones I made for me were
- generic jedi (I have a picture of the design if you want to see it)
- Japanese school girl

- Human GlaDOS

and I'm in the middle of making a Malcom Reynolds (Need to make the belt holster! and boots D:) and Bender costume

The ones I've made for others
- Chell jumpsuit (got a picture of this one too)
- Kagome from InuYasha

and in the process of helping with a lilith (borderlands 2 look where she's all roughed up and dirty lookin)
and a cape for something from the Merlin TV series

I'm the only one of my friends that can sew... Which I kind of find a little odd when they're so into cosplay.
Oh well it's fun

Honestly, I prefer making costumes for others anyway, I don't exactly have the body shape to look good in some of the stuff I really want to make so I hope to be making more costumes and clothes in general to make some of my designs a reality.

Because I can...

- Black cat for Halloween all throughout childhood

- When I was 14, crappy Rangiku (Bleach) costume for convention

- When I was 15, crappy  Nyu (Elfen Lied) for convention

- Pretty damn good lolita Umbreon gijinka for convention next month

I just got back into cosplay this year, I can't wait to show off my costume. Even though it's a sci-fi convention, in reality it's pretty much just an event for all the nerds in town to come together. I hope I make a couple friends this time.

Hopefully!

I actually really enjoyed making the costume. I just love making things in general, so this was a great project. I can see why so many people cosplay.
