So, I keep coming back to this silly idea that I want to paint up some nerf guns and wear the most ragged clothing I have, and basically cosplay as an apocalyptic gunslinger.
And maybe get some people together to do this with, and we could call ourselves Preenactors. =P

So anyway, I bought an off-brand dart gun revolver. I'm gonna start painting it soon. Not sure what colors yet.
Does anyone have advice as to what sort of paint to use, so that the paint stays but the plastic doesn't get sticky?
I don't think he needs to be immortal. I think all he needs to do is to write the right story. Because some stories do live forever.

That sounds like a pretty awesome idea, post pictures when you're done.

Krylon Fusion is made specifically to paint plastic and works pretty well. Most enamel paints should work pretty good too.

I've seen a few pretty epic looking painted nerf guns, here's a couple links that may give you ideas.

Here's an incomplete pic of the gun I use for Humans vs Zombies. The white and purple one is mine. The green and white one belongs to one of the girls I live with.

The completed version has a reflex sight I built myself, as well as a single-point sling with a clip for my vest.

The jungle-mag is comprised of a 15-round drum magazine taped together with two 6-round box magazines.

That looks pretty awesome. I've noticed those two models are very popular for repainting and such.

Don't let others convince you your ideas are silly

It takes character to act against the crowd

I have to agree with wolf, people that do these sorts of things are much more interesting.

Sorry if I'm late to this party! Krylon Fusion works well, but I highly advise to gently sand down all plastic areas before painting, especially the shiny areas! This will help the paint adhere much better and last longer!

I guess this is the costuming thread, then? Here are just a few I've done (all sewing, prosthetics, and full makeup done by me):

I love being a Twi'lek:

Those are awesome!
The artist in me likes the mermaid one best, but the star wars nerd in me is a sucker for the Twi'lek.

It sure is. Do you happen to have tutorials in the magazine? Or maybe a youtube account? I'm not one to dress up, but I'd love to see how those prosthetics are made.

I don't, but a YouTube tutorial isn't a bad idea! The magazine format doesn't really provide for it, but a special feature in the geek edition is an interesting idea...

Those costumes are amazing, Cupcake. 0_0

The weeping angel one freaks me right out. >_<
