Hello all!

I'm a Psychology student at Queens University in Charlotte and I'm doing a study about cosplay! I need as many as 60 people (both cosplayers and non-cosplayers) to take a short survey. If you're interested, it will take 5-10 minutes to complete and you will be rewarded with my eternal love :D

Thank you in advance! <3

Here is a link to the survey:

Hmm, I don't know how much relevance it will be to you, I'm not an advocate of the 'correlation implies causation' idea but nevertheless I answered your questionnaire. I'm a non-cosplayer, so there you go.

Also, I hope you're gonna stick around in the community! One of the mods might block your link until you integrate because on most internet forums, self promotion without adding anything to the community is considered a bit rude.

Anywho, welcome!

I think your link may be taken down due to advertising too soon from joining, but I thought I'd start a little discussion on cosplay vs. Confidence first.

I've only cosplayed once or twice, actually working on my third now. It definitely takes a lot of confidence to do it. I'm working on a lolita umbreon gijinka for a convention in April, it will be my first time in lolita and I know how snobby the lolita community can be. I am a little afraid that the costume may end up being "ita" but ive decided it is what I want to do, and the opinion of other shouldn't matter.

I think my confidence comes from studying engineering for two years though, not cosplay.

But... eternal love.
It wasn't a single post thing, I think it's ok.

This. I have no problem supporting people's projects as long as it's not a single advertising post.

Good luck with your project. :)

Ahh read the bit after submitting, I'm a huge metal head and dress like a metal head also because I love chucking my personality out into the world for anyone to have a go at :-D

Ergo I am a part of a subculture and warp my image, I may have voided my test...

Thank you to everyone who has taken the survey so far!

Don't worry, Sllhouette. You've helped by just contributing :)

Also, this was my first post on the forum. I realize now that I may have seemed a bit abrupt but at the time I was so concerned with getting the survey out there that I didn't even consider the connotation. However, I have been looking for a non-ginormous general forum of good spirited people for quite some time so I will definitely be sticking around. :3 <3

I just started playing Moemon a few days ago, I know now what this is, I love the idea. Do it up!

I took the survey and am curious, do you have a control group outside of Nerd Forum?

BTW, cosplaying catgirls are hawt. But it can strain a relationship if you ask a girl to wear cat ears in the bedroom.

Yes, there are many groups and various sources outside of this forum but since it is an ongoing study, I'm not at liberty to discuss it. However! If anyone is curious I will be happy to report the results and explain the study further in this thread when it is completed :)

Bahaha, that will be no problem. But it will be a little while before they're in and ready, and even longer for me to formally write them up. Then I have to prepare a presentation and present the results and two separate psychology conferences. So I'm going to attempt to get them up here in, say, mid-April. Maybe sooner, but hopefully no later.
