Ah the hilarity continues

Lux mid feeds 7 kills to Akali, then gets mad and leaves lane letting Akali roam.

It turned out about as good as it sounds. Of course the Lux was saying things like "Worst team ever".

Tier 2 Scaling AP with Armor Pen Marks. Next-level Lux meta.

Champ select is seriously the trolliest part of this game sometimes.  I mean, yeah, I'd prefer to be mid, but if pick order dictates otherwise, I suck it up and go play something else, no biggy.  I hate the people that think not getting their lane is the end of the world.  Also, the militant adherence to the meta is absurd.  In a normals game last night I went double bot with fizz and someone else playing quinn.  I bought an extra ward or two, sure, but we did like a 2:1 split on farm and we both ended up fine and freaking rocked that game with a solid win in lane and then in game.  That shit could never happen in ranked, because if you pick a non-standard support or try to take some minions(let's be honest, you're not going to be picking up all the farm in bronze rank anyway), you're automatically a troll who should get reported.

Ugh.

I definitely agree with the filling in if you don't get what you want, but as far as following the meta in ranked, think about it objectively.

If you're playing ranked your goal, as well as your teammates' goal, is to win. The meta is formed around what is perceived as optimal - for example, if triple bot solo top/mid and no jungle was better the meta would shift to that. So logically, if everyone wants to win, you want to have the best possible team comp with the best possible champs countering their lanes. Obviously counter-picking isn't always an option, but following the meta certainly is. Non-meta things can work, sure, but in the hands of the best players going head to head a meta setup will always win. (and, if it doesn't, that would indicate a meta shift to come) Basically it just boils down to wanting the best odds possible of winning.

As far as doing it in normals - if you don't feed and don't do something retarded (like double jungle) I really don't care what someone picks (unless you're going bot, then you need to make sure your lane partner is ok with whatever you're doing IMO).

But that's just my 2 cents.

Eh, I'm not sure the current meta is as set as everyone thinks.  Regionally, each region plays vastly different and has different modes.  Often these modes and methods shift even without dramatic change to any portion of the game, leading one to conclude that the meta being relatively stagnant has more do do with lack of experimentation and following what everyone else is doing.  I believe there is a lot more depth to be explored in the game yet, and that even the pros are still discovering the "optimal" setup.  look at the recent trend of 2v1 lane setups.  Nothing major has changed in the game since the standard was go go 2v2 at bot, yet more and more you're seeing lane switches to create 2v1s in tournament level play.

I assume you're talking about adc/support top and a strong solo bottom, right? That's to counter softer champions top, such as kayle, with early jungle gank/dive and pushing tower hard early and creating roaming pressure. I don't really know if you could consider that a different meta, you're still following the same team comp. x:

I've yet to lose a 5-bruiser game. Meta shmeta.

Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

True girl gamers are the same surly nocturnal creatures as male gamers, they just have different plumbing and cry more.

Not a jab with the crying thing, women have terrible biochemical bullshit to deal with that men generally don't.

Bought Taric recently, had saved up a bunch of IP for a champ but I decided to buy runes instead [runes too expensive, riot plz]. Had enough left for Taric and wow, Taric is super OP as a support, at least when I play him.

It's nice to radiate 30 armor/mr, be able to shred 30 armor and initiate with a stun, and then the 35 AD/AP ult with the locket shield for teamfights.

It's what I call "Winning with percentages"

He's pretty good - you should have played him pre-nerf, shit was insane. Right now Thresh is where it's at for me; if you're good you can do so many neat tricks. He'll probably get nerfed soon, though, he's out of control good and I'm not sure how the community has caught on yet.

Ideally, you get set up like this

drkma0h.png

blue is thresh, purple is thresh's ADC, red is enemy ADC, yellow is enemy support

pink line indicates his hook

So you throw the hook behind them - if they stand still or juke forward your adc is in range to harass hard (1 or 2 autos, depends on how quick enemy support can react) and if they run into their hook you can get into proper position while they're being dragged and toss your ADC a lantern.

Mid game gets even crazier - you can jump into your hook, I've gotten into flashing->hook->go in with it->drop ult->throw lantern to bruiser->shureil. 7/0 w/l in ranked with him atm, OPOPOPOPOP.

If jungle shows up you can do some awesome ganks with your lantern, too.

I like Thresh, he's the next support I plan on buying, then Lulu [Frozen Fist glitterlance is the most broken thing ever, 50% slow a whole team].

My only reservation about Thresh is the lantern. It's a very, very good skill for a support, basically an early game zone and a late game peel, but your teammates have to know when/how to use it. Also, experienced enemies can bodyblock it in teamfights by standing on it, negating it completely. So it's effectiveness is determined entirely by skill.

But my biggest thing I love about Thresh is I play a very aggressive support. At my MMR most supports are bush-hiding sissies, so when I stride over towards the adc he has to get zoned away from creeps and lose cs. Also, his passive synergizes so well with how I play, I can use it to harass the adc every time he comes over to cs.

I used to play LoL all the time with my boyfriend and a few people we knew that played. I've been trying to get it installed onto this laptop but it's taking forever. I love Ahri and Cho'Gath. They're my two main characters to play.

Being extremely vocal about lanterns alleviates the issue for me (most of the time). I'll explicitly tell them "if I go in hard be ready to click the lantern I throw at you", "if jarvan ults you I will lantern you out, be ready for it" etc. etc.

Usually by 10 or 15 minutes in they're all groomed enough to click it.

I'm a pretty big fan of ahri myself. What's your summoner name?
