Basically, a while back Adobe took down the activation servers for CS2, and since it's still supported, they had to offer working copies that don't need activation.

Adobe hasn't handled this very well, they should have just marketed this as some kind of good deed for the community....
Free software is still nice regardless. Not that I'll use it... I already have CS5 installed, although Adobe might not quite agree....

I don't know about you guys, but I'm fine with piracy if and only if you either need it and/or literally cannot afford to pay for it.
I mean, look at games/movies. They cost money for a reason. The developers/directors probably spent an insane amount of time working on it (I say probably in case any of you ever managed to make it past 5 minutes in Jaws 4), so I see no reason to not pay them their dues.

What are the diffences between CS6 and CS5?
A friend of mine has CS6, but he says it's basically the same as CS5.

It's not, CS6 is a huge jump up.
First of all, it runs off the Mercury engine, which means graphics acceleration via OpenCL or CUDA, making lots of things much faster.
There's layer searching now, which doesn't seem like a big thing, but it really helps.
There's group clipping masks, which means there can be more than one mask per layer.
The interface is a huge upgrade, and I know they hired new people specifically to make it as good as possible. It's now on par with the high end Autodesk stuff I use.
The crop is a ton better, which is something that tends to get used a lot
You can merge shapes without turning them to bitmaps
Lorem Ipsum can be pasted in
There's also auto save/recovery

And these are just the big things, there are a ton of minor improvements as well.
