The gameplay is droll, repetitive, sloppy, and just plain not fun.

Best story out of a military FPS in a while, though, nailed home by the aforementioned repetitive sloppy gameplay.

I would recommend trying it, maybe buying it if you love the MP.

I don't want to spoil too much about the plot, but I will say this.

Prepare to look at yourself in the mirror.

Got it yesterday cheap >_> I love the campaign so far. Nolan North = yes. Controls could use a little work, but it's a solid game. I played a couple rounds of MP and it's good. Only thing that bugs me about it is so far it has frozen my PS3 twice o_O Once during MP, and once shortly after loading back into the campaign. Not sure if it's a sign to buy a new PS3 though >.>

After finishing it I got a feeling the makers read Heart of Darkness or watched Apocalypse now.

Finished it with the "A Farewell To Arms" ending. I don't quite know what to think about the story now. It's so...odd. It feels a little Black Ops-ish, though. I'm now on chapter 14 on Suicide Mission difficulty, and I can safely say, fuck the section in chapter 13 with Adam. I died at least 27 times. Rage.

Well, the devs said they drew inspiration from Heart of Darkness and other similar stories.

They even threw him a nod by naming one of the main characters Conrad

I never played the mp, mostly because the controls were so god-awful that I didn't even think to give it a try.

The meat of the game, from what everyone says, is the story. But after everyone played it up so much, I was actually a little disappointed when all was said and done. Sure I got the initial "OMGWTF" mindfuck, that's to be expected, but later I looked back and the whole experience felt very... 2 dimensional.

And throwing new players in a match against pros? Sounds legit [and very CoD-ish]

They actually didn't want the game to feature MP at all. It was forced upon them by the publisher, who brought in a different company to make it.
